The 2009 change to digital applies to broadcasters only. If you use a roof antenna then you will need to get a box.
If you use cable or satellite then nothing is needed. All older TVs will work fine for many years if you have cable or satellite.

How do I change my service from analog to H D?

Most LCD tv's built in the last 4 years are HD compatible. Most cheaper brands tv's are 720 HD and some are full HD 1080 a little more money. Since their is no more analog broadcast as June 2009 all tv's manufactured around 2006 started incorperating the digital tuner (DTV) along with the analog so that the tv would still receive analog broadcast while the digital transistion was ongoing. All tv's with a Cathode Ray Tube (glass picture tube) are not HD compatible. First you will have 1 or 2 ports on the tv ethier on the side panel or rear panel of the set. They a marked HDMI 1 HDMI 2 or HDMI A HDMI B. If you have these ports your set is Hd Compatible. You may also need to upgrade your cable or satelllite equipment and subscribe to a HD package to be able to get HD service. You will need a HDMI cable to connect your cable or satellite receiver to the HDMI port on you tv. Call your local cable or satellite provider for options to upgrade to HD. Most over the air broadcast stations depending on your area transmit some stations in HD free of charge. A good quality outdoor antenna works best to give you stable signal. You may need to change the settings of the tv as some sets default to the 480i this is the standard digital signal.

How to switch from analog to digital

The LED LCD TV's came out in 2009. It already has a built in digital HD tuner.

Allen wants to know how to switch the TV between the built in analog tuner and built in digital tuner.

Switching between the two tuners is done by means of the "TV mode" switch on the remote control.

You will NOT be able to select analog channels if have NOT done analog tunning.

If you need to do a retuning then hit the "menu" button select "setup" then "plug and play" enter the default pin number 0000. When you are selecting the channel source to memorize make sure you select "digital and analog". This will then cause the TV to tune and memorize both the analog and digital channels.

For details refer to page 8 of the user manual.

We are in Ghana we need frequency and we update to get more channel

Your flat panel TV is probably factory set to receive ATSC signals (Hi-def DIGITAL TV), whereas
Ghana may not have converted from analog TV (NTSC) yet.

Digital TV's cannot receive analog signals. I'm just guessing about whether or not Ghana supports
Hi-Def broadcasts - you'll have to check with (any) TV channel in Ghana. The Analog-to-digital
conversion is an expensive one at the broadcast end, and may not have happened yet in Ghana.

The US conversion took place by FCC mandate June 12, 2009.
There are available $65 (USD) digital-to-analog converters, but what you may need is an
analog-to-digital converter, which doesn't exist. Your Flat-panel TV amy have to wait until Ghana
begins broadcasting a Hi-Def TV channel.

For a HD antenna, a regular old rabbit ear-type antenna will do.

With my Sony Bravia 46" xbr the screen keeps cutting out. I'm usig hdmi cables and can't find a reason why te tv keeps cutting out. The sound still remains but picture doesn't. Not even out technician can...

Usually this happens to my set when I am in HD cable channel mode after being on a non-digital ANALOG channel.

I basically reset the TV by changing to a DIGITAL cable channel -- stay on that channel for ten-twenty seconds -- then I switch back DIRECTLY to a HD channel (key in channel number directly on remote).

TV works fine -- seems to be a glitch when the TV changes modes from Analog to HD

HD tv changes

The changes that you mention will only effect you if you use either rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. The over-air broadcast signals are being changed from analog to digital. If you have cable or satelite service, there will be no change.
