I just bought a top-end MacBook Air 13.3" 4 GB/256 GB for presentations. I also have a Dell M410HD projector, also quite new (a few months old), which works great with the two PCs (one new, one old)...

They (Apple) might be right. It could be that the projector is damaged, like the bulb, or it could be incompatible with your computer, but I don't think that is the case. Try taking the projector to a computer repair place.

During Powerpoint presentations, I am unable to play embedded video clips OR straight from a DVD that is minimized on desktop without a lag...on the screen it says 'searching for signal' when I click on...

this is caused by your computer changing resolutions in order to display the video full screen. to decrease this, set your screen size as close as posible to the size of the video

IBM T60 can not connect to projector. I have some

Most notebooks have a keystroke that enables the external video port for presentations.

According to the manual for the T60, your Fn +F7 key combination does the following:

"Apply a presentation scheme directly, with no need to start Presentation Director. To disable this function and use the Fn+F7 key combination for switching a display output location, start Presentation Director, and change the settings."

"Switch a display output location
v External monitor (CRT display)
v Computer display and external monitor (LCD + CRT display)
v Computer display (LCD)"

"Notes:
1. This function is not supported if different desktop images are displayed on the computer display and the external monitor (the Extend desktop function).
2. This function does not work while a DVD movie or a video clip is playing."

"To enable this function, do as follows when you log on to Windows 2000 or Windows XP:
Note: Multiple users can log on to a single operating system by using different user IDs. Each user needs to do the following:
1. Start Windows 2000 or Windows XP, and log on to the system.
2. Start Presentation Director, and change the Fn+F7 settings."

Installed new color wheel not working correctly

Hi danny,

I also replaced the color wheel in my EP739 after the old one disintegrated suddenly. Colours were then all over the place. Actually, it looked like each colour channel was displaying all the colours of the rainbow!

Here is the procedure I used to solve the problem - maybe not as elegant as Marrie's solution, but it will not cause any damage, will most likely solve the problem, and you will be able to get everything back to the way it was if it doesn't work:
  1. Have the projector running and displaying a stationary picture. The right sort of picture to use is one that has a full range of brightness values from near-black to peak white. I used my lap-top as the source. Also, this way you can compare the projector's picture with the picture on the lap-top.
  2. Press the power button once. "Power off the lamp" dialogue box appears. Hold down the left arrow button until the service menu appears (takes about 8 seconds).
  3. Using the up/down arrow buttons, scroll down to "Color Setting" and press "enter".
  4. Scroll up to "Color Wheel Index". Make a note of the existing setting for later reference. You can change the Index setting over a range of 100 to 550 by holding down the left/right arrow buttons. As the setting changes, the colour rendition will slowly change, and at some point the colours will come right. Note that the changes are quite slow. Find the lower and higher settings where colour aberrations just start to appear, and set the Index mid-way between.
  5. If this doesn't fix the problem, return the Index setting to original. My original setting was 354 and the new setting was 461.
I do not advise touching any other settings in the service menu unless you have access to a service manual and know what you are doing.

Good luck!
