Re: I want to put a kill switch on a Honda EM5000x
I do not understand why you would want another kill switch installed. It already has a kill switch for the engine and a circuit breaker that kills the output power.

If the kill switch has two wires: All the kill switch does is join both wires together. Find the two wires and ensure they are kept separated. If you want to kill the motor, join them together. If it only has one wire: In this case, it usually bridges the coil to earth via the handlebar without blowing the fuse. An auto electrician may explain it better. Personally, I'd simply use the key to turn off or if no key, put a simple switch into the coil low tension lead. Also good anti-theft device as nobody knows it's there...
check thd kill switch ! remove plug cap off the ht and see if you can feel a voltage as you kick over the engine ! it wont kill you but easy way to know if coil is working ! plug caps resister break down !
If you have an ohm letter or continuity tester, put the probes across switch and depress kill while reading meter for a change in resistance. Possible the switch is just bad. If the meter doesn't indicate a change in resistance, switch is definitely bad.
Did you check the kickstand kill switch? I had the same problem on my yamaha, Ran fine, could throttle it up no problem, but when i put it in gear it died. Found that the kill switch was bad. Hope it is that simple.
Check the side stand kill switch. Broken, loose or out of adjustment it will kill the bike when put in gear. The idea is to prevent starting out with the side stand down. Check the wires and connections also.
The stock spark plug is an NGK CR7HSA. Is a kill switch on? Does the side stand have a kill switch? Is it working properly? Check the operation of all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? If still no spark, get CDI system checked at the dealers shop.
Your kickstand switch is either broken or out of position. The bike
kills the engine as a safety feature if it thinks the sidestand is down
and the bike is put in gear while the engine is running.
The kickstand switch is either bad or bent out of position. See if you can activate the switch manually. Does the bike run now? If so, the switch is bent out of position. If it still won't run, jumper the wires together until you can replace the switch.
