If you have an ohm letter or continuity tester, put the probes across switch and depress kill while reading meter for a change in resistance. Possible the switch is just bad. If the meter doesn't indicate a change in resistance, switch is definitely bad.

SOURCE: Powermate model 544000 generator undervoltage

There are basically 2 possibilities that can cause this.

1) Enigne RPMs are too low. but, since you already played with the throttle, this probably isn't the case. RPMs should be about 3600 though.

2) The voltage regulator / capacitor has high ESR (resistance) or is bad altogether. Replace.

U How do you fix a Honda generator 1000i engine runs but no power at 120 out let.

if the motor engine is working and no power output then you need to check is there any power out from the generator motor directly (not in the power out put box I hope you already checked in there) generator motor coils could have busted due to over loads. so even the engine is rotating the generator it can't produce any volts.

Trying to driveRHEEM RAMB-036JAZ using a Honda eu2000 generator. How to hook this up?

You have to very careful powering up home appliances on portable generators due to back feed problems to incoming lines. I would recommend getting an experienced electrician to show and explain the problems with what you are considering. Many linemen have been shocked due to backfeed. The real way to perform this is to get the controller that is put on home generating systems such as generac type systems. These automatically isolate line supply from backup power from home generators, thereby eliminating shock hazards to linemen.
If prolonged shortage, you could disconnect the wires into the furnace and install an extension cord from the furnace to the 120 volt plug on the generator. Most fans are powered on gas furnace on 120 volt. Make sure your voltage needed on your furnace before attempting emergency power up. I have seen some furnaces power by 240 volt fan motors. If it is 240 volt then use the 240 plug wired correctly. PS when you get an electrician to help you with the wiring, check out the requirement to provide grounding, to lessen your shock hazard.
Hope this helps.

Why is my 97 Honda 4 wheeler not getting fire

There are three items that are connected together needed to create spark on your 1997 Honda 4-wheeler, regardless of which model it is.
Before we go through a checklist of these three important parts, look for a black wire with a white stripe that runs to the ignition switch and kill button from the CDI box. Disconnect this wire before it gets to the ignition switch and kill button, then check for spark. The most likely cause is a broken kill switch on the handlebar, or shorted ignition switch. Such a condition grounds this wire and kills the spark.
If this test did not restore the spark, continue reading...
Here is what is required to create a spark.

First, the alternator has one coil which generates a high voltage--about 125 Volts AC for the CDI ignitor box.

Second, there is a pulse voltage generated once every revolution of the engine that goes to the CDI box. This pulse causes the CDI to dump its stored energy from the 125 volt line into the primary of the ignition coil.

Third, If the two connections of the wire that runs from the CDI to the Coil are BOTH SHINY clean, the ignition coil will generate a spark.

If any one of these 3 don't happen, the spark will go away. Of these three, item 3 -- one or two tarnished and/or dirty connectors -- is the most likely cause. Just an added resistance of 0.3 Ohms or more in the CDI to Coil connections will cause the ignition to fail. No other wires have to be this clean.

Only has 120 volts,can not get 240volts

the generator consists of 2 120volt windings that run in parallel for 120 volts and in series for 240, check the change over switch make sure a wire hasn't fallen off, if you have a multi meter check both coils have the same resistance

Took my ev6010 generator out and put it back in but hooked up the starter motor to the ground not to the positive and now it wont start. I also changed the oil and coolant.

On the ev6010 Honda generator the posive starter wire is black and was accidently hooked up to the chassis ground wire. Then the start button was pushed and nothing happened. I corrected the wire hookup to the positive side but will not start still

No 120 or 220 volts out put on portablegenerator motor runs good.

You should find out which wires are you excitation fields and flash them with a 9volt battery. That should make 120 volts
