I have a Toshiba Rear Projection 51H83 & I think the lamp needs to be replaced. I was trying to find the lamp part number & how hard it is to replace.

Either (if it is available) from Toshiba, Andrews electronics or Google the model number with mirror--there are a few vendors selling these.

I am not familiar with your TV, but I might be able to help. Sounds like the lamp blew! These lamps only last about 4 to 5 thousand hours. There should be a lamp access on the back of your TV. unplug your TV and remove the lamp housing and inspect the bulb. Be sure not to touch the lens. If it is blown, replace with a new one!

The red CRT is not operational - you need to open the tv and find out why - worst case scenario the tube has died and must be replaced.

Check the 1.8 ohm resistors in the convergence circuit there will be 6 all 1.8ohms, They will be where your STK ICs are
STK392-110s which are Big Black ICs,You may need to replace ICs They are Big Black ICs with STK392-110 printed on them Mats has them 1-800-628-1118

did you check and or replace the feed resistors for the Convergence when you replaced the ICs?

Your set uses two convergence amp ICs they should both be changed their numbers are STK394-250 They are attached to a large heat sink the board location numbers are Q751 and Q752 You can get replacements at the following link and they provide installation instructions and free on line tech support by insatant messageing when you do the repair. I have a wild guess. I have the same tv and channel 72 is the proper channel to watch tv on. I don't know why, but maybe try channel 72 instead of the usual channel 3. Good luck, maybe a quick fix, maybe not!
