Why won't oven light?

Hello. No make/model number was given so my help will be limited. Assuming this is a gas oven, from the symptom you described, the problem might very well be a worn out ignitor. If your oven uses the type that glows for about half a minute before ignition, it probably has come to the end of its useful life...normally, they draw about 4 amps of current and are almost too bright to look at when operating correctly. One classic symptom is the center of the ignitor element glowing brightly but not the rest. Also, if your oven has been having the "whoosh" sound when it ignites(caused by too much gas building up before ignition), that is another classic symptom of a worn-out ignitor. If you provide the make/model number, I can most likely give you the part number for the ignitor if you want to try to fix it yourself. I hope I helped you!

My gas oven model EOG9330XN ignitor won't stop clicking when the oven is on

Thank you for your post, friend!

From what you have described it sounds like a potential issue with your switch or igniter. I would highly recommend reaching out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree. -Matt

Burners turn on sometimes as does the oven but then may not turn off

Hello, when you turn on one of the burner, can you hear some clicking while you turn on one of the burners? This is an electric ignitor, and when you turn one burner on all the burner ignitor will click.

It is possible, that you are turning your burners on the stove to quick. Take a look at one of knobs and you will see ignition--low---medium---high. To get the burning ignited the knob needs to be position at the ignition site. You'll hear it click-click-click and the burner will ignite.

Now, the oven. The oven ignitor is on a time delay. You will push the bake button and across the screen will say something like this "Please set oven temperature" You'll set the oven temperature to---let say 350 degrees---. Then the screen will say "push start button" then you push the start button to turn your oven on. Now, the screen will say "pre" this means that the oven is pre-heating the oven to your desired temperature. Before all this happens there is ignitor in the oven and it has a heater on the ignitor in oven. This heater will heat up to desired temperature and once it reaches the that temperature the ignitor will ignite and the gas will turn on.

Why--one would say for this procedure. The old kitchen stoves had a very bad habit of of flash over---that is gas will built up in the over and once the pilot light ignited the gas---wussh and it blow the oven door open. These ovens would sometimes huff too.

Therefore, take your time and your biscuit will be OK

I am sorry Sandan2. I didn't finish reading your question. Never mind on what I said here.

If the burners will not shut off sometimes, then there could a gas regulator problem.

One very important question. Is your kitchen stove using Natural Gas or LPG--liquid Petroleum Gas?

If it is using either type of fuel as mention above. It is very important that you contact Appliance repair person that is certified by the state that you live in that he/she is license by the state to work with gas appliances.

I wish you luck, but it very it important that you contact a certified Technician... Also, move the stove away from the wall and look behind it. There a black gas pipe and at the end is a brass valve, Take wrench and turn the gas valve off. The gas valve will have a stainless steel flex line attached to it, and the other end is to your stove. Don't use your stove.

If those gas burners and the oven are leaking gas. There is possibility to blow you and your family with your home up. Don't use the stove, Until you have it check out...please. GB you/your family...stewbison

My oven works fine it just doesn't heat-up. I can hear ignition clicking but no fire from burners. A technican told me to purge the union above gas to get rid of air in the line. Thanks Louis

Personally I wouldn't describe an oven that doesn't heat up as working fine. You shouldn't have any air in your gas line unless this is the first time firing the oven, in either case the air in the gas line would work its way out eventually and the oven would light on its own.

Check to see if your ignitor is glowing before you hear the clicking, if the ignitor isn't glowing it needs to be replaced and is fairly easy to do so. If your ignitor is glowing you should check to make sure you are getting gas to the burner. The only way I would recommend checking this is with your nose, do you smell gas when the gas valve clicks? If you do then something is wrong with the burner, either dirty or the exhaust is too strong, or even gas pressure too low. If you don't smell any gas that doesn't necessarily mean no gas is coming out, at this point you should call a authorized service provider to take it over from here.

Controls work fine , element glows red, but stove dorsnt light, huh.

Ok, I'm assuming the element is the ignitor right? The trick here is the ignitor, if it's a glow type. The ignitor must decrease it's resistance enough to allow the gas valve to receive it's calibrated min current to open. If the ignitor is bad it can glow just fine but if the intensity is not sufficient, the resistance will not be decreased enough to trigger the gas valve. Sorry to get complicated. I would replace the ignitor first and go from there. Hope this helps.

Re:Whirlpool SF310PKE gas range

When the oven safety valve refuses to open and let gas through, it's almost always because not enough current is flowing through the ignitor. Often an aging ignitor will appear to be glowing pretty brightly but still won't draw enough current to make the valve open. The first thing to try replacing is the ignitor.

You describe your ignitor as "red and glowing" but oven ignitors normally get a lot brighter than "red" -- well into what I'd call yellow.
