The IR preamp could be acting out, or some one else has a westinghouse tv and could be close enough to yours and creating the problem. The easiest thing to try first is to cover the IR reciever window and use it manually for a few days, if the TV still does its thing then you'll have to replace the IR reciever, it's usually located on the key board panel(vol,chnl,pow keys) or just replace the keyboard panel if it's available. Try the partstore.com, they usually have parts availability and price information
