10.0.0.1 is called local loop not host ..not an IP OR DHCP address..if u want to use his wifi connection u just need to config ur wirless adapter with his router..not ur router to his router.. u also need to fig out what and how he is config...CABLE or BROADBAND ..>?
not all wirless is compatible with all routers such as PPOE OR CABLE ETC>> contact his provider for the settings u need..BOOST attenennas are cheap now and can give u a stronger signal\

To lock or put a password on your Wireless Router is you have to get the Gateway Address of your Router (Firmware) like for example: http://192.168.0.1, to check it in your LAN Network Connection.. Check it there, then go to your Internet Explorer and type it on the Address, (http://192.168.0.1) the ENTER then LOGIN: admin PASS: admin,
To get into your Router Firmware and read all the instruction if you get in to put a password on it.

with the wrt54g you need to open a internet browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1
a security screen will pop up to which the username is "admin" and the password is either "admin or blank, (unless you specified otherwise when running the install.

once in click wireless then security in the sub menu (under the wireless link you just clicked) then fill in the boxes

If it is wirless it is quite simple just lock for your wirless conection on the botom right corner of scren. Now you will need to right click on it and say view wirless networks. It then will pop up a list of available networks that are in range of your computer. Slect the one you own. It may ask for a WEP password which is located on the botom of rour router. I hope this helps and lock forward on helping you fix any other problems you may have with your router.

You should not need the CD for having a PC to access the internet. If you have the manual - Look at accessing the router with http://192.168.0.1

Not sure what you are trying to do... Are you trying have your sister be able to access the internet, through wireless? I'm sure I can help with some more info.

one way of doing so is by entering your routers ip address into the address bar when you open up your web browser. usually its something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 from there you'll see a whole slew of options and what not . but what your looking for is a wifi area where you can set yourself a password. this way your neighbors can't use your internet and you can use all your bandwidth. i cant give you much more information than that because i dont know what router your using. otherwise i could give you a full on tutorial on how to fix this problem. also generating a WEP key is ideal too usually its a 18-27 randomly generated code that you can program into your wifi for ultimate security but remember you'll have to write it down so you dont forget. also after you set up your password for the internet you can set your browser or network to identify the password directly from your computer so it doesn't just give out free bandwidth.

you reaqaly dont nned to pay for anything just get internet connection via wirless network (linksys,wireless router). that gives you wireless internet for computer, video game consoles and more. the router is bout 60-100 dollarz
