Make sure that one of your LOCK key is not on usually there is an LED to tell you this sometimes this will send half the keyboard screwy something that happens most on laptops check out my tip HERE

NUMBER LOCK You have press the NumLk key (number lock) and this changes the right hand keys to a number pad. Press the NumLk key (also doubles as the ScrLk key to toggle the Number lock). it is near the F12 function key. When the NumLk has been enabled a LED light is turn on to indicate this function has been selected. Press the NumLk key again to turn off the Number Lock.
The exponential function e^x shares the same physical key as the natural logarithm ln(x). If one is accessed directly, the other (its inverse) is accessed by pressin the SHIFT key.
1) Press your Start Menu Button
2) Go to Control Panel
3) Look for Region and Language settings - depends which version of Windows you have -- but have a look - may even just be under keyboards
4) You are looking for a windows like this one
5) Change the settings to match your location
6) Make sure tha Language bar is enabled and docked and that additional Language bar Icons is selected
7) You can use the lanaguage bar to resolve these problems from now on...

You should be able to turn off the built in numeric keypad by pressing the fn key and the num lk simultaneously. The num lk is directly above the +/= key. If after doing this you still find you only momentarily turn off the numeric keyboard then there is another underlying issue. At that point you should take your unit to your area HP repair center.
if you are using windows vista as your operating system go to the control panel then select regional and language options then select keyboards and languages then press change keyboards.from the general tab add the language that you want delete or move down the language that you are currently using at this point,dont forget to press ok when done similar process if you are using windows xp i hope this helps in some way
