E-Machines C2480 PC Desktop Logo

When I power on my eMachines C2480, I do not get any video output. I never see the BIOS menu indication. I see the hard disk indicator flash yellow and then go dark. I have tried to boot from CD without success. I see a flashing green light on drive and then nothing.

I verified the monitor was working as expected with another computer.
It is as if the computer never gets far enough to start the boot process from ROM.

Try all the normal stuff be sure the monitor is turned on, check the cable in the rear of the computer be sure it is plugged in good. Check the contrast be sure it is not down all the way. Hook it up to another computer or unplug it from the computer it should have a no signal notice showing.

I goes to the black screen with white writing and says insert a boot disk and press any key

A couple of things can be wrong:
  • Your BIOS may have lost the settings of the hard disk and can therrefor not read the hard disk. To solve it you have to access your BIOS by restarting the computer, and then to press DEL or F2 (depending on your computer) until it comes up with a blue screen that shows you the BIOS Settings. on one of the pages (use your arrow keys to navigate) you will find the hard disk settings (sometimes described as IDE or SATA drives) One of them should have a value in it indicating a hard disk recognised, another will indicate a CD/DVD drive recognised. If it has values indicating a hard drive, press F10 to save and exit.
  • The second option is that your hard disk has failed, and a new one must be installed. If you know someone that knows what they are doing, most of the data on the failed hard disk might be recoverable. If not, expect to lose it all.
  • Certain viruses will attack the boot sector of the hard disk, rendering it useless. Formatting the hard disk might bring it back to life, but once again, all your data may be lost.

Internal hdd none in bios set up

If the BIOS cannot detect the hard disk, this usually indicates that the hard disk has failed.
To get the Lenovo operating again, replace the hard disk and install Windows in the new hard disk plus
the Lenovo's device drivers and your programs.

My computer says there is no disk or please insert disk

disk, are you referring to a cd/dvd disc or are you reffering to a harddrive disk??? If you are reffering to a harddrive disk, then your hard drive is either damaged/ or inproper loose connection or if it s usb/network disk, make sure it is plugged or configuration is changed in the bios menu. If this is a harddrive disk, and after POST or startup, it is giving you this error message, then before we pressume it being damged, check in your bios menu to see if the bios reconized the hard drive disk, if not, your hard drive is damaged and needs to be replaced.

On boot up the emachine now beeps every 5 seconds

Reboot with "F8" held down.
you are only booting to bios and minimum disk software. This may give you an indication of your monitor or video driver status.

If you can borrow another monitor from someone, that would confirm your monitors status....

My acer aspire one won't turn on

"Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.
"

The Bios can be found from the Acer site. Source(s): http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/08/acer-aspire-one-bios-recovery.html
