By default without upgrades or stock changes has 512MB of memory. this is below the recommended minimum. You can however upgrade up to 4GB max.

Your processor if it is stock woudl be a AMD X2 3400+ @ 1.8Ghz. This is well enough to run Windows 7 but may seem slow after you start getting things installed. The minimum is 1GHz but its best to have a 2.6GHz Dual Core or better with 2GB memory to make your experience worth your time.

SOURCE: opening side panel of acer aspire t180

You have done half the work toward the solution by removing the thumbscrews. The other half involves sliding a spring-loaded lever above the lower thumbscrew toward the bottom of the case. While the lever is slid toward the case bottom, push on the side panel in the same direction as the screws, i.e. toward the rear of the case. The side panel should slide just slightly, allowing you to then lift it off to access the inside. Note that when replacing the side panel, follow the above steps in reverse order.

When replacing the side panel, note that if the panel is not correctly replaced, the thumbscrews will not be able to be installed as the lock lever will not be set properly.

SOURCE: how do you reset Acer Aspire T180-GB7Z PC

Perform a system recovery:
Does not come with recovery cd's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or
recover.
3 ways:

1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or click on Burn disks instead of restore
3. if unable to ge into Windows then Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen on startup

I tried to upgrade my acer t180 to windows 7 from vista basic, no i"m having dmi problems... seems like it's stuck... help please

Hello kelajo34,

There might be a Desktop Management Interface (DMI) compatibility problem with Windows 7 and the Acer T180 Vista Basic DMI. The Acer support Windows 7 eligible systems link shows all the Acer computers that are fully compatible with windows 7. (Acer T180 is NOT in this list !):
http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade/eligible.html

Also, It might be a good idea to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor before upgrading from vista basic to Windows 7 on the Acer T180. The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor download link is at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15&displaylang=en

Recently installed windows seven and the sound stopped working. Any idea why? Acer Aspire AST180-UD400A

Try going into your device manager in control panel and removing the driver for your sound card and then let windows 7 reinstall it.

If that dosen't work, you will have to contact acer for an updated driver.

Acer aspire t180 will not download and install windows vista updates

Try downloading the updates from the microsoft website directly rather than using the built-in windows update system.
