To print from your Lenovo Thinkpad tablet, you can consider setting up Google Cloud Print (if you have not done this already) and then see if you can print from the tablet. To know how to do this, the following link can be helpful: http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/mobile-faqs/wireless-printing-tablet-setup/
It is possible that the driver is not installed correctly, or not even installed at all. What you can try, is to go to manufacturers web site, and download the driver needed for it, and install it

After removing the LCD you will gently have to prise it apart to reveal the backlight assy. Hope this goes will for you.
The backlight is broken. These are small flourescent tube lights about the width of a pencil lead. You dropped the laptop and the bulb broke. It will have to be replaced. The driver has nothing to do with your problem, reinstalling it will not get your picture back.
IBM sold off it's notebook line to LENOVO. The Thinkpads are excellent business machines and for the price of a Macbook that is dual-bootable, you can really do the Thinkpad up nicely. If he was going to college for a design or music or something like that I would go with the Macbook. Since he is going for business, go with the Thinkpad.
