Roper washing machine will only run one load every 12 hours!!

I have a Roper washing machine. After running the first load, I have difficulty getting a second load out of it. It typically takes hours, (12+) before I can use it again. If I try using it before it is ready, it will somtimes hum instead of fill, other times agitate instead of fill. It will agitate and spin as it should though. Also, when filling with water,it does not cut off on its own, causing it to overfill. I have replaced the water inlet valve, but that didnt solve the problem.

i have already replaced the water inlet valve. when i turn it on, it will fill initially, but it will overflow. the only way for it to stop is to be advanced manually. when it hits the rinse cycle, it will not refill with the rinse water. after that first load, it will not fill up with water at the start of the next cycle for several hours.

It's overfilling If your washer is overfilling, check these: Water-inlet valve Water-level switch Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve. Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.

My Roper top loading washing machine goes thru the first wash cycle, empties the water then stops. It does not move on to the rinse cycle.

If your Roper top loading washing machine is stuck on the first wash cycle, you're not alone! It's a common problem that can be caused by a few different things. First, check to make sure the lid is closed properly. If it is, then you may need to check the timer, the water level switch, or the motor. If you're not sure how to do this, it's best to call a professional. Trying to fix it yourself could end up costing you more in the long run. But don't worry, you'll be back to washing your clothes in no time! Just remember, when it comes to washing machines, it's better to be safe than sorry.

My roper washing machine will not empy out or spin. It agitates alright but stops when it comes to emptying the water and going into the spin cycle.

If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Replace the lid switch with this part.

Roper top load washing machine that won't aggitate

Hi, It is most likley that the coupler is bad. The coupler connects the motor to the transmission. If the motor runs and you get neither spin or agitate, this is the most common problem. If this is something you want to try and fix, you can go to 222.whirlpoolsurplusparts.com and there I have a detailed article on how to change the coupler.
I hope this helps you. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks,
Vic

Roper washer will not spin water out.

This washer is made so that it can be easily repaired where it sits. the case can be removed and you can jumper the lid switch to run the machine with the cover off so that you can spot the leaks. Here is an excellent page on accessing this machines innards.

Washer leaks when running full loads

This could mean the fill level is not working properly and there is an overfill situation. Generally[I don't know 'Roper'] the fill level is controlled by a 'bottle' like device at the fixed to the outside of the drum at the bottom with, with a fine tube leading to a disk like thing near the top of the machine- with wire coming from it to the controller. The 'disk' thing is the pressure sensor. and the bottle thing is supposed to fill with water and the air pressure in the tube actuates the switch in the 'disk' Overtime the 'bottle' will get clogged with crud and need cleaning out. This will mean taking it off and giving it a good cleaning. Hope this helps.
