PLEASE let me help...1) If you ask a large parts supplier about
OEM parts (Original Equipment Mfr.)the best quality is by the piece with mfr # on the bag...Hitachi STK392-110 is now subbed
and upgraded to STK394-160 with Hitachi # CZ 01341 ON THE
PACKAGE ! They are the best and WILL NOT BURN THE
CURRENT LIMITING RESISTORS UP ! Kit IC's are not always
first QUALITY, as you are fnding out.So, change the IC's with
two # CZ 01341 HITACHI ON THE BAG and you will not burn
any more resistors ! 2) Forget about the DCU and yokes........
Let me know how it goes......................T.
According to Andrews Electronics,Hitachi subs STK392-110 &
-120 & -150 to CZ 01341 = STK394-160E , yes,mfr by Sanyo.
CZ 01341 is first quality OEM spec or better........Kit IC's are
not necessarily first quality......STK394-160 with Sanyo name
sold as generic may not be first quality....The only way we are assured of ORIGINAL MFR SPEC FIRST QUALITY is to have
their name & part number on the package.....................
Next, concerning resistors...I rarely change more than four,
never all, usually one or two......make a list of locations to verify
values...................................T.

Ok i would suspect the yokes are shorted to ground somewhere. you can measure that. the dcu or the digital convergence unit... which is the processor that handles the convegence of the set. i would have to research and pull up schematics to know which output on the convergence chips that those resistors handle blue ver...blue horizontal..etc.. that might help to see which output is shorted.

Subject: Re: Your Problem in FixYa
I have ordered the parts and about to do the necessary replacements...but... the new parts look awfully like the ones that I replaced not while ago, and although the bag label reads Hitachi, and the label is CZ01341...the manufacturer is SANYO just like the one I replaced before, WHAT GUIVES???.Also when searching for the parts only one place carry such TRITRONICS, (and they where costly, $90.00 total)but they also carry the repair kit that I had previously gotten from Hitachi and the parts again look the same, however the repair kit from Hitachi( JT22053-X480295)contains both IK's (STK392-150). ANY IDEAS BEFORE I PROCEED????.
