Hey there. I'm not very technologically literate so you will have to bear with me. We have a Philips LX3600D surround sound system. We live in Ireland. We bought a kid's dvd off the internet for the kids for christmas and, I have now discovered, is from region 1. I think we're region 2. How do I play this on my DVD player? I also have two wharfedale portable DVD players. Is it possible to do the same trick on these? Any offers of help are much appreciated.

I have the same system and I changed the region code to muti by pressing STOP 7344660 after opening the tray as per instruction I read in the net.. It worked.. on the TV screen it displayed region as 0
It is illegal to change the region code. I will not accept liability, but if you enter the phrase, "change dvd region code philips" on the YouTube website, some jokesters have some good videos which will show you how to do it. Two things they do not tell you:
1) It is illegal
2) It will only work 3 times, and then your player will be locked into whatever region code you set it to
You would really need a Multizone DVD player to do what you want to do legally (Philips does not currently make any of these)
You can only change the region code a few times (usually 5), so I wouldn't do it. You should leave the current player at region 1, and buy and install another DVD player and set it to region 4, then you will have 1 for each region you want.
