I have a S/N SHU4302UC/U)6 dishwasher that is not draining; I don't think the drain is blocked, and there's no debris in the trap. How can I tell if it's the pump that's broken? Could it be something else? Everything else seems to be working

If you hear the pump running, but little water drains, then check hose, and clean out debris trap at bottom of dishwasher. That gets plugged and needs occasional cleaning.
It can bequite common for a dishwasher to not drain because either the drain hose or theair gap (if the unit has one) is clogged up. Drain hose clogs commonly occurwhere the hose is attached to the main household drain line, or where the hoseconnects with the garbage disposer. If you take the kick plate off from below the door youshould be able to access the base to remove any excess water.Behind your kick board is a plate below the door. Remove theplate. With the power off push a rag into the base plate to soak up the water. Empty your food waste disposal
unit if your dishwasher's hooked up to one. If it's not empty, the old
food inside it will back water up into your machine. Check that your
sink trap isn't blocked by unscrewing it from the base of your sink if
you don't have a food waste disposal unit. Make sure your dishwasher or
any other appliances connected to it are not running when you do so.
Incomplete Cycle
You may have opened your
dishwasher's door mid-cycle before it's had a chance to drain. Check the
progress indicator on your machine's control panel. The structure of
this will differ depending on which Frigidaire model you're using, but
it should show the point your machine has reached in its cycle. If this
is the cause of the problem, close your dishwasher's door and let it
finish.
Drainage Pipe
Inspect the drain pipe that runs
from your machine to your waste disposal unit or sink. If this is
kinked or has been squashed under another appliance or a base unit, the
waste water inside your dishwasher will be unable to escape. Check that
water can flow through your waste pipe freely.
Filter
Remove the bottom shelf from
inside your machine and take out the plate covering the filter area. If
you don't rinse your plates before you put them into your washer, food
debris could block your filter and stop water from reaching your
drainage pipe. You can unblock your filter with your fingers. Turn off
your machine's power before you attempt to do so.
Hello tom.... e5 is a drain error - machine is not draining - check drain hoses. If your trap under the sink is blocked, or even if your garbage disposal is blocked, interfering with the proper draining of the machine, you will get this error.
Another cause is often a blockage or a partial blockage somewhere between the machine's drain pump and the sink trap. To check this remove the lower front panel on the machine [usually just 4 phillips head screws need to be removed], and then disassembe the drain hose from the pump in the lower front of the machine. Also unscrew the pump from the frame and physically check it for debris, sometimes even a chunk of glass or bone.
Once you locate and remove the blockage, and reassemble everything, the machine should work once again. Joe
Hello. Most likely you have a partial blockage in your dishwasher drain line between the floor of the machine where the drain pump may have debris in it and the trap under the kitchen sink. If you are handy you can remove the lower front panel of the machine, locate the small pump at the end of the drain hose, remove the pump to physically examine it and remove any glass or other debris in there and then check the rest of the drain line right to the trap under the sink.
Be sure to begin by turning off the breaker to the dishwasher to eliminate any shock hazard. J.
I had similar problem and rerouted the drain hose like papps54 said. I still had the condition and decided to pull out the drain hose completely to see if there was any debris trapped inside the hose. There was! I removed the hose from the machine completely, cleared out the debris, and let the hose soak in white vinegar overnight. In the meantime, I looked back up the drain outlet and found evidence of debris lodged in there as well. I didn't completely dismantle the dishwasher at this point but I did eventually clear it out as well as the drain filter located inside the dishwasher. After reassembling the drain hose and dishwasher, I cleaned it with baking soda for three nights and now it runs very well with no odors. Runs quieter as well.
Hi,
You could try running the machine with the drain hose leading to a large bucket. If it works OK in this situation then the blockage will be most likely where the drain hose joins the house drainage system - often at a junction under the kitchen sink. With the drain hose disconnected you should be able to see the blockage and clear it with a suitable pointy tool.
Let me know if this sorts it. Thanks, D.
Does your dishwasher run during wash cycle? then,
Check drain hose by try this, loose the clip that hold your drain hose firmly from your dishwasher side, check carefully if no debris blocked the hose connector, water suppose to come out from that connector if it does, your drain hose was blocked with debris or mold and particles like coffee seeds etc.removed them connect the hose back run the dishwasher.
If that does not solve your problem check under your dishwasher, there's a timer activated drain solenoid that opens a drain valve to drain the wash water through a hose. Replace it.
remove the clamp holding drain tube to disposer, unplug disposer, and see where clos is its gotta be right there, UNPLUGGED.UNPLUGGED you can stick a screwdriver thought drain hole in side of disposer to clear debris
