  • linback220 Dec 30, 2009

I do not have an option to select a device. In device manager I see two things: one is HID mouse the other is ps/2 mouse. I have option to disable the HID mouse but not the ps/2 mouse.

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can goto the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Alternatively, you can permanently disable the touchpad of your laptop by clicking the "Disable Device" in the Touch Pad setting. Advanced users can disable the touchpad from the BIOS setup [press F2 when the computer is booting to enter BIOS settings]

Unfortunately, there are no keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable Touchpad movement or tapping. You can however drag the Mouse icon from the control panel to your Quick launch bar for quick access.

If that sounds too much effort, you may consider adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. This can be accessed from the Touch Pad tab of our mouse properties. Choose a low setting.

I need to disable the touchpad on a ASUS x751. The function F9 does nothing. Much investigating to no avail.

ever think to ask asus this>?
my guess the goal is to have only external USB mouse working?
The touch pad like all touch pads have driver, that matches your unstated OS.
some touch pads have feature that is called.
Auto turn off, if other mouse detected.
what you have there for a driver, as anyones guess. nor upgrades,
on my laptop I got an upgrade to that pad driver that added this feature, (new)
lacking this feature there are only 2 fixes.

so learn to device manager,
click the pad driver there and pick disable device.
this kills the pad dead.
or open up PC and unplug the pad wire cable.
there i have covered all 3 ways to do this.

again, NO OS stated at all
is it running windows?
if yes, click control panel, click system and bingo for what OS this is, windows 7,8 and 10 is best.

How do I remove the keyboard from Asus K50IJ ?

Try these steps:
1. Place your laptop on a clean, flat surface and remove all power sources from it. Open your laptop screen as far as you can.
2. Use the flathead screwdriver to pop open the hinge cover. Slowly and carefully pry it open from the right side to the left side, exposing the Asus keyboard screws. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the Asus K50IJ Keyboard in place. Keep these screws in a safe place.
3. Gently tug the Asus K50IJ Keyboard component toward your laptop screen. You are trying to pull it out of the slot that is located near the palm rest and mouse pad. It doesn't take much force, but you must be firm. Once you have pulled it out of the slot, you can lift it up and remove it from your laptop.

Asus touch pad too sensitive

There should be settings in the touch pad software on your machine or in the task bar that you can directly access to change all manner of personal idiosyncrasies related to HID. (Human interface device) Try also going into the control panel and looking for input devices, mouse, touchpad and adjusting the settings from within there.

I have an Asus K60 Laptop.I can not figure out how to turn off the touch pad, as I am using a wireless external mouse instead of the touchpad on the laptop.Any clues?

Did you try the FN key and F9...
That is what they say to disable your touchpad

You have a function key which is called Fn That key allows you to use the functions on the F series keys

So Fn then F9 should do the trick

My ASUS K50IJ cant disable tap-to-click

Hey

you should have the touchpad drivers installed, the synaptics program icon on the bottom right corner of the screen, if you don't have it, the touchpad software/drivers and probably not installed and the computer is using generic drivers. the synaptics program, icon, you can right click on it and turn off the tap to clicp ability.

You should also be able to disable the whole touchpad with a FN+F1-f12 combination, its one of the buttons, might not be a feature on all the laptops out there tought so if yours doesn't have it, or none of the buttons do it, then it probably doesn't have it.

Mouse pad frozen

Hi,
Please try the following to fix the problem,
1.) Did we accidently press the button to 'enable/Disable' the touch pad/mouse?, for most of the machines its fn-f9.
2.) Try plugging in an external mouse to see if you can get back your mouse functionality.
3.) There can be a problem with the touch pad, try reinstalling the drivers again.

Please let us know if that was helpful enough.
Good Luck & Thanks
Shiv.
