Blinking screen The screen on my computer suddenly starts blinking off and on in rapid succession. I will go for months and nothing will happen, then it all of a sudden starts. It will do it for a while, then stop and all is fine, then start again. If I do a clean up on the computer, it stops for a while. Sometimes when it is doing it, if I change to a different program or screen, it will stop. It is very intermitant. Any ideas ?????

Make sure the correct driver installed.
Check what is installed at this moment, do the following:

1. Go to Start -> Run and type: devmgmt.msc
2. Hit Enter/Return key.

A screen will pop up, are there items with a yellow questionmark icon? Is one of those your VGA adaptor? Then you need to install the correct drivers.

If you need help finding the drivers, tell me what brand/type/model your VGA card is.

I think the Screen has a problem not the computer... have the screen checked by a professional technician. Inside... he/she may find cold-solders (these are components that loses connection to the board) that causes the blinking or the rapid succession...
That's why patting the side of the screen sometimes gets better...

I find sleep mode nothing but trouble, eventually corrupts window files over extended use, go into power options, go to stand by and select never and click apply, next go to hibernate "top right" and click, make sure the check box is clear, if not! remove check and click apply and restart your laptop.

Had a similar problem like this several times. Try choosing safe mode. Safe mode will load the required drivers. After safe mode finishes the loading process, restart your computer and choose to start windows normally. The problem you mention usually happens when the computer is turned off without using normal shut down procedures. Also happens when you have a sudden power outage.

If you've only had it 6 months then I would suggest you contact the manufacturer for a warranty replacement. Their warranty period is 1 year so see what they can do.

Yeah, I have a similar problem. I tried to go into a suggested diagnostic run, but that didn't yield anything. I tried pushing the Sani-Rinse and Air Dry buttons back and forth a number of times. Didn't help.
At first I thought the lock-on had accidently been engaged, but disengaging the "child lock" doesn't help. The lock-on light comes back on and sometimes blinks rapidly. I"ve counted around 7 rapid blinks at times and 3 rapid blinks at other times--in case that makes a difference. The control panel doesn't work--in other words, the dishwasher does not start, even when I can successfully get other lights to come on. I don't want to spend >$100. for a new control panel if that is not really the problem.

You have a warranty. You should contact the appropriate people. Do not try to fix this yourself. If you return the machine for service, ask them to get any data off of it that you need. It is possible that your drive has crashed.
