When my son turns on his xbox all he gets is a red circle. I bought his x box in May - he has been at school since Sept so the x-box has had minimal use. HELP What is teh problem? I am told Microsoft extended their warrenty due to many issues? Is this true?
Is the whole ring red or just 3/4 of it. If the whole ring around the start button is red, then you A/V Cable(the one that go to the TV) is not plugged in properly. If only 3/4 of the ring is red, then yes you are covered under warranty through Microsoft. Here is the Microsoft repair center number 1-800-469-9269

The solution according to xbox.com is to turn off the xbox, unplug everything including accessories and the hard drive, replug everything, and turn it back on. If that doesn't work, contact customer support and send it in.
I am guessing the whole circle is flashing red.
Usually when the XBOX 360 does this, it means the A/V cable is unplugged or broken. Chect that the cable is plugged in securely in the XBOX and TV. If this doesn't help, unfortunately may need to get a new A/V cable for your XBOX.
Good Luck!

check video conection and power brick connection if power brick is red you need a new power brick 4 red lights is a failed av power conetion then its a uncovered by warrenty red ring of death but thats really rare best of luck if its dead look for a 4 rrod repair guide or call 1-800-4my-xbox
Is there three red lights???? or a complete circle???? Three lights is the red ring of death. Four red lights or a circle is either a bad a/v cable (try a different one) or a bad hard drive....(try taking it off of the side when power is off then turn it on.).
this is called the ring of death and if go on to the xbox website get the num and ring them and they shoukd give you a free xbox has the ring of death if there fault
Its laser burn. I have had this. Ask your son if he has tipped the xbox 360 with a game in it as that can cause this. If not the tabs that hold the game in place are broken causing the disc to 'wobble'. If you get the bottom right quadrant illuminate red then contact me personally at: [email protected]
if you bought less than 12 months ago, you pay nothing when you notify microsoft calling 18004MYXBOX. An expensive way to deal with this is simply getting the xbox elite which never has this problem at all!
