you need a different type of cable to connect to your tv.a s-video will fit but not work.can't remember the name but it has to have more pins.besides that port is for projectors and cannot be used for anything else.you need a converter box like the one in the link ::::: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=laptops+s-video+cords&FORM=BIFD#focal=a85da1a40c404788d7e32f0bf01eab05&furl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cvs.k12.mi.us%2Ftiz%2Fimages%2Fsvid-cables.jpg

unless you got a big tv with a very good picture it isn't worth it.and a good graphics card in the comp.most tvs are fuzzy and unreadable.i've did it enough to know

I have connected my laptop to my element tv via vga cord;sound is comin frm laptop..want the sound frm TV; THEN, I have a headset/microphone ... can I connect my headset/microphone to the TV?

If you need to get sound from your TV, you should have a sound input socket in your TV. If you have that you can connect an audio cable from your sound sound socket to your TV.
The second option is that your laptop and your TV should have HDMI ports. If its there, you can use an HDMI cable(instead of VGA cable)to connect the two. With HDMI cable, you will get both video and audio through that single cable.

If you need more help please let me know

I used to connect my tv with my laptop using an HDMI cable, and all of a sudden, it just does not work anymore. What can I do?

Hi Cyril Lott,

There is a possibility that the HDMI cable might have failed so try connecting another known good HDMI cable and check if that helps.

Thanks and Regards.

Connected my laptop to sony wega tv using hdmi but get no sound on tv

HDMI is prone to this--If you connected with the set (TV) on you may have caused this issue.

In our shop we get a lot of this and if a box was being used (cable HDMI) the box needs to be rebooted.

I would at least try unplugging the TV from power--wait and try to boot it up again(set with power disconnected and then powered again will try).

Restart the laptop, with the cables (HDMI) REMOVED AND THEN INSTALLED AGAIN BEFORE YOU APPLY POWER TO THE SET.

This may or may not help but is worth trying.

Failing this it may be a setting in the laptop or a mismatch between the two units.

How to connect dish tv to my laptop? It has inbuilt tv tuner.

Your Lenovo laptop can be hooked up your TV if you have a model that is capable of TV output. Newer models with HDMI ports can easily connect to newer TVs that have HDMI input jacks. For older laptops or TVs, you will need other adapters or cables. The most common of these is an S-video jack, which has a small round connector with several pins arranged in a circle. For S-video connections, you will need to hook up the audio from your laptop to your TV separately.

Things You'll Need

HDMI cable

USB-to-HDMI adapter

OR

S-video cable

Audio cables

HDMI Connection

Turn on your Lenovo laptop and HDMI-enabled TV.

Connect one end of your HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your laptop. Lenovo's IdeaPad series has these ports. If you have a ThinkPad or other Lenovo model, connect a USB-to-HDMI adapter to your HDMI cable, then plug the USB end of the adapter into any USB port.

Press the "FN" and "F7" keys on your keyboard. This will switch the laptop's display to the TV. You can then use your TV screen as a monitor or use the laptop's DVD drive to watch movies on your TV.

S-Video Connection

Turn off your laptop and TV. Connect your S-video cable to the laptop on one end and the TV on the other.

Plug audio cables into your audio out jacks on the laptop. If you do not have stereo audio output, you can use the headphone/speaker jack. Add a splitter adapter to split the sound into stereo instead of mono (single speaker). Plug the other ends of the audio cables into your TV.

Turn on the laptop and let it boot up. Then turn on the TV. Right-click on your desktop screen, then select "Properties."

Click the "Settings" tab, the "Advanced" button, then "ATI displays" or "Display device" or the similarly worded option, depending on your system. It is not the "On screen displays" option in any version.

Click on the option that suits your system, such as "TV" or "LCD." Click "Apply," then "Yes" to confirm, if necessary. Click "OK" to exit. Your display should be visible on the TV screen. If not, try pressing "FN" and "F7" to toggle the display to the external screen.

Connected laptop to tv, but sound only come from laptop. How can I make the sound come out from tv?

If your laptop has a HDMI output, and your TV has a HDMI input, then use a HDMI-to-HDMI cable, which carries both "audio" and "video" signals.

Otherwise, you need a cable from the "headphone" output from your PC into the "RCA" stereo-audio inputs into your TV.

No sound with HDMI cable connected to Philips 42PFP5332/10 TV

Sony Vaio laptops do not allow audio through HDMI only video. You can run audio from your laptop however to a surround sound system.

LG 42PX4DV - HDMI Audio / PC Audio IN problem

I found the fix. Had the same problem.
I right clicked on the sound speaker icon in the bottom right of Windows 7.
Chose Playback Devices.
Once this window opens, then make sure you are on the Playback tab.
Scroll down until you see the HDMI Device. (Mine was hidden at the bottom of the list.)
Then choose "set as default".
The sound will begin playing on the TV with only the HDMI connected......no need for an extra audio cable.
