I do not believe there is a reset switch. Your problem is likely a fuel pump relay. This is a white relay behind the ashtray in the center console. Remove it and replace it.
OR...If you are handy open the case and pull it out of the case noting the way it came out.
You should resolder the circuit board that holds two relays using silver solder.
You should also clean out the relay contacts. This can be done by folding as sliver of fine abrasive paper so that both sides can work the contacts. Hold the abrasive sliver with tweezers and work it in between the contacts. If the plating on the contacts is badly burnt, pitted or corroded, you should just replace the replay , as it will fail again.
New relay is around $50.

Most of these problems are associated with an I.C. on the board that governs the HHD. Unfortunately, the chip gets pitted (overheats) on the GaAs and is ruined. The green light (LED) on the HHD will turn on as it is getting power but the main chip that controls the HHD no longer works thus rendering the HHD inoperative.
Bottom line, get a new external drive. Should you get the same model or something similar to what type of electronic hardware you have, you can remove the new HHD and put your old HHD in its place and you will see that all of your data is still intact.
My thoughts is that one if not a couple of the PC boards inside is cracked or broke. More than likely you broke the inverter power board which lights up your display. May be a time for a new laptop. Would cost more to repair than to buy you an new laptop. My thoughts is you may find another one on E-bay that has some minor issues or in need of a hard drive and you could take the hard drive out of yours and put it in the new/used one. Very easy to do. You will need an antistatic wrist strap. Unscrew the screw/thumb screws on the side of the case which slides off. slide the case door off, connect your anti static wrist strap to you and a metal part of the case, to ensure you are grounded and don't fry any parts. Check what sort of hard disk your motherboard supports, it could be IDE or Sata. Older ones use IDE. Get a hard disc to match and plug it in where your old hard drive was. The hard drive is probably held in by clips or screws. remove them and place the new hard drive in the hard drive bays. Wire it up. You will need to install an operating system on your new hard drive. This can be done by getting a windows boot cd, entering the bios on startup by hitting the delete or f12 key/ the specified key. Then in the bios go to boot device priority set it to CD. Then reboot and it will install it on your new hard drive. Hope that helps.
yes the drive belt is the bottom one it looks hard but is really simple the main thing is you have to look rite above the left back tire and remove two 5/16 bolts with an 1/2 in wrench to in stall drive belt the you install other belts
