The stanton T.80s do not have a port for grounding wire. They buzz when I have them on my table, is there anyway to ground them?

I added a wire by removing the bottom screws, removing the cover, and soldering a wire to the ground or sheild that is located near the wire chase of the tone arm. Careful, the wires are very little and fragile. Obviously the power was off...and presto ...no more ground noise!

These units are ground inside the decks. If you pop all the screws and remove the bottom, you'll notice where the RCA wires are hard wired into the unit, there is a small ground that comes out and attaches to several places inside the deck. Make sure this isnt severed or has a loose screw somewhere along the way. That should fix your problem, or give you insight to what may help.

Stanton STR8-100 Turntable ground wire?

Hi,
There is no such ground points in the Stanton STR8-100. The main thing you have to check is the RCA cable used. You should a high quality RCA cable suitable for Phono connections. If you use a normal RCA cable then it will produce HUM because if its weak ground shield.

Try with a good quality RCA cable with Good ground shielding.

I have a pair of Stanton T62s which I got about a year ago. I moved from SF to LA and now I can only hear static from my right turntable through my headphones. I don't have speakers yet and I thought...

Disconnect the wires to the cartridge on the turntable that has trouble. Then put your headphones and with it powered up. Touch each cable end of the loose wires of the cartridge one at a time with your finger. On two you should hear a buzz, one on each channel. On the other two wires you might get a slight buzz or a crackle, but don't expect anything. If you get a buzz on both channels. Then the cartridge is faulty. If you do not get a buzz on either channel then there is something wrong either inside the deck or the wiring to that deck.

New RCAS on Technics 1200 Getting a Loud Buzzing Noise

It is not suggested that you remove the ground cable. Performing the mod for the ground by soldering a bridge on the circuit board doesn't really do anything either than remove that buzz/ground hum. You've essentially removed the wire that grounds the turntable cabinet to the earth. The buzz is gone, but now your turntable is no longer grounded properly.

I would suggest replacing the ground cable to it's original state, then attach the Monster cables.

If this does not work, then either there is an issue with the soldering to the board, or the board itself might be damaged. You might want to look at the trace paths to make sure none are lifted, or damaged in any way on the board. Another issue might be faulty tonearm wires or not properly soldered wires.

FYI, monster cables are not good for this purpose. I would suggest the following cables:

High level buzzing

Only the following 3 things could cause this:

1) Tonearm
2) RCA Cables / RCA connectors
3) Cartridge/Styli

Make sure your ground cable is also connected.
