Kodak M863 battery only last 2 days.

I bought my camera (Kodak M863) about a year ago. When it is fully charged, the battery only last 2 days (without me using the camera). I am still using the battery that came with the camera and it is the correct battery. I am also using the charger that came with the camera. Is it possible that the battery is damaged or is it the camera? Everytime I recharge the camera I have to reset the date and time. I have only taken about 1000 photo's with the camera. Is there someway that I can test the battery to find out if there is something wrong with it? What can be wrong??? Thanks

There is only one battery that is compatible with the camera. 1. You can also try to charge this camera using the computer. 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a No power repair or a new cable. In order to organise your repair/Trade up or replace the cable please Contact KODAK: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=14563&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=3490

M863 lens extends and then immediately retracts

Kodak Easyshare cameras use Li ion batteries, as recommended by the manufacturer, which have higher voltages but not necessarily higher amp hours per battery pack.

When I first bought my 14.1 megapixel camera from Kodak, I tried various batteries, including Alkaline, Ni MH, and they didn't work very long before needing replacement or recharging.

This is because the voltage isn't enough on other batteries.

I do not understand why they make it this way, because it fooled me a lot. I thought that since it had a AA format that it would be alright to use AA batteries of any type in the camera. But, this is not so, in my experience.

Good luck getting your camera to work with new Li Ion Batteries.
Note: if the Li Ion batteries do not work, then there is something wrong internally with your camera.

Contact kodak.com to see if it is economically repairable.

Why wont my camera turn on?

If you got a fully charged batterythen this is what it is.

1. damaged CCD sensor
2. Bad flash capacitor

Please do not shoot the messenger here, Take it to a camera shop have them do a quick evaluation on it probably cost you $15 bucks if they say its worth fixing then you fix it with them if not then you might need to purchase another.

Kodak Cameras where good a long time ago, over the years things started to get cheaper and cheaper, poor quality control due to over tired slave workers in other countries. Lets face it I have a C60 Kodak it eats batteries by the way it was designed, my solution was to fork out $29 bucks for a battery charger and a set of recharge-ables.. To save money..

Do not shoot the tech here, please do leave postive feedback and ratings, Thanks

My m863 kodak camera charging light won't turn on.

Is the camera charging? Remember when charging thought the computer NOT to switch the camera on since this will deactivate the model to charge. Try the following: 1. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Turn the camera on. 2. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a no power repair with KODAK or a new cable.

Kodak Easy Share z712 IS not detecting charged battery

I have the exact same camera almost a year too. It is a total "swinka" on batteries. About 10-15 shots on super ni-cads, and quits without warning.

A pair of Energizer 7X gave me near 500 shots. Much cheaper but still ...

So 4 months ago I bought a charger and 2 rechargeables. Charge one while using the other one.
I may get 70-90 shots per charge on these lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, without flash.

Testing the batteries without a load doesn't really tell you anything.
What's the reading? Should be well over 4 volts when fully charged. Mine show 4.2V

Kodak easy share digital camera m863

I have a Easy Share M863 and have had it less than a year. It was working great and then last week I tried turning it on and it would not open. I thought it might be the battery needed charging so I did that. It still will not open. I contacted Kodak and they told me they would give me 15% on a new digital camera. That is not what I wanted. My camera is not even a year old. It should have lasted longer I think.
