About a week ago, I fell asleep on the phone and when I woke up, and closed it, it didn't register. It seems like the phone cant tell that its closed anymore.... The screen doesn't clear when I close it and reopen it, and the little glass on the outside doesn't respond either. Also I've noticed that my Clear button as well as my text messaging button don't really light up anymore since then. Any suggestions?

This is a known issue with the Rumor. If you take your phone into a sprint repair center or call technical support, they will most likely repair or replace it for free.
You forgot to replace a small magnet that goes in the upper right corner of the cover (when closed) next to the screen. Try to put a magnet in the circular hole.
take the phone and have it service then if that does not help the issue take it to a mobile service center and have them reflash the keypad with the flash file.
Ive had 2 silver razrs and my first did the exact same thing it's a sensor intenally that wears out ecspecialy on the silver ones dont ask why? But i sent my back and replaced it. If you pay insurance everymonth like me use it!!
If you slept on it you might of got the keys stuck. so find one of the solved problems to open up your keypad and check if theor stuck or if the cabel is loose.
