Blinking Cursor b> Laptops, especially models with a touchpad, occasionally experience issues with a skipping cursor. The cursor on the screen may skip or jump when you are using it or even when you are just typing and not actually using the cursor. This can be especially annoying when playing games or typing. Adjusting the sensitivity of your touchpad may remedy the problem.
Close all application windows and restart the laptop. This will shut down any background processes that might be affecting your cursor. Rebooting often remedies cursor skipping problems. Run antivirus software to confirm that your misbehaving cursor is not caused by malware. If the cursor has changed to an unfamiliar shape without you initiating the change, your system could be infected by a virus or you might have installed unstable software. Run an antivirus scan and remove suspicious files and programs from your laptop. Adjust your touchpad's settings. In Windows, open "Control Panel," click on "Mouse" and then click "Tapping." On a Mac, access "Trackpad" and "System Preferences." Lower the tracking speed or sensitivity so that if you are accidentally touching the touchpad while typing, you are less likely to cause the cursor to skip. Save your new settings.

The above should read "I have an Acer Aspire 5720 Laptop and this is the problem I have".
I usually use an external mouse as I find it easier and thought the mouse might have been the problem. So I disconnected it and am using the mouse pad on the laptop and have found the problem far worse .
Is it a hardware propblem, it certainly seems it.
If advice is not given within the next two weeks I am taking this laptop back and having a refund.
I am having the same problem. My computer was working fine until it updated and changed my settings. I took someone's adivce I pushed fn (by left ctrl button) and f7 (turns off touchpad) it seems to have worked.
I have the same problem on a Toshiba laptop with external mouse. Seems the prob is with Vista software. No solution found yet.
I have an Acer, aspire 5315, just got it about 2 months ago and it has Vista. I now have SP1 but the cursor does the same things in Word and Outlook emails, it bounces everywhere, I do not believe I am touching the touch pad and the cursor just keeps bouncing everywhere in the document and also in email, seemst to go to the PRINT button and prints my half typed emails ...the cursor bounces all over inside documents and I have not been able to figure this out. My techie says I am touching it, but I have been using touchpads for yrs and this has not happened until I got the new acer with Vista. Very frustrating, Another problem poster said they tought it happend with the Y alot and it
