Stuck on the opening screen

My acer just randomly shut down and then when i tried to start it back up it went to a screen that says it didn't shut down properly and when i pick an option it stays stuck on a loop on the opening windows screen. it makes no noise so i guess the hard drive isn't working but i have no idea what's the problem. it's only 2 months old. thanks for the help

solution if this happens to you: press f2 immediately after starting the computer and then press enter to get to the "main" page and at the bottom there is SATA mode, change it from AHC I mode to IDE

Try going to safe mode first... upon turning on your laptop, continuously press/ hit F8 key until it gives you options then select safe mode... after you're able to log into safe mode you can try and run a scandisk check or try to restart the computer to see if it would work in normal mode...

hope this helps you...

Hello i went to restore my acer and now it's stuck when i turn it on first you see acer screen then it goes to starting acer recovery management then windows xp screen and then it says please wait then it...

Follow the steps below,

Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that that screen but you end up reaching the blue screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Last know good configuration".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER.
Step 6: your PC will boot to the windows.

Acer laptop won't open programs when turned on. Hourglass stays stuck on screen

Sounds like a registry or memory problem. Try doing a system restore in safe mode to a earlier time and see if that works. If not it may be a memory problem. If you can get it up in running in safe mode try shutting down some of the not needed start up programs by going to run and type "msconfig" without the " " and click start up and take out all the excessive stuff.

Random shut down

The PSU voltages can be checked with a digital multimeter at the ATX connector, 3.3v (orange), 5.0v (red) & 12v (yellow) if the DMM is indicating values of MORE than 5% variation your PSU is the likely villain (best to rule it out first).

Are you getting a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) or error messages when you PC randomly shuts down?

Computer shut down

That is called the "blue screen of death". Another words your system crashed. Did you download any software, music, drivers or screen savers? If anything, what exactly did you download. If you just opened a web site, sounds like your may have gotten a virus. Try restarting and try to boot into "safe mode". Run your anti-virus making sure you turn off system restore first and delete all internet temp. files/ cookies/ and history. Delete your recycle bin/ restart and see if that takes care of the problem.
If you still can't boot without the BOD, try doing a system restore to the point before this started. Make sure to turn sys. restore back on once you solve the problem. If the blue screen comes up again, as soon as you see it hit pause on your keyboard and write down what it says; especially the error code; 0x0000008 etc.

Acer laptop stuck on Acer welcome screen.

Remove the hard drive and try it again, if no change also remove the DVD rom drive.

The computer is trying to access the drives, but failing and will just sit there and keep trying until it either succeeds or eventually fails & then will report it.

The fact it has hung like this would indicate the hard drive controller board has failed though and is no longer reporting back to the bios when it is queried.

If this gets you past that point, then before you take a hammer to the drive, reseat it back into the slot firmly and try it again.
