Problem with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 Digital Camera
when I turn on sony cyber-shot camera I get a screen
display that states "access". The lens keeps going in and out and then
it states,"turn the power off and on again" What's wrong??
reset the camera to default through the menu if possible
if this doesnt help, pull the battery out and media card.let the camera sit for 5 mins.re insert a ne card, and install new batteries. If this doesnt work it may have to go back to Sony for service
I believe there is a lens error, usually that message appears when the lens are stuck or not working. Turn the camera ON by pressing the "play" button (to see images only) and if the camera turns ON with no problem, then the problem lies on the lens. you can send the camera for repair or buy a new lens set from ebay, they go for around 30 dollars, but you have to be familiarized with cameras and very careful in order to install the new lens.
Camera needs to be serviced. This is a common problem with sony cameras. If you have any knowledge of electronic, you could take apart and clean and lube lens. If not sony will fix for a fee, go to the sony web site, they offer a repair service. This happened to mine, it cost $95 plus shipping costs to repair. Now it works great, for how long who knows.
I read that if you bang the camera against your hand a couple of times it can fix it. I tried it and it fixed it until i turned the camera off and on again. Tell me how it works for you.
This problem is not related to plugging your camera into your computer. This is a symptom we have seen many times with various Sony cameras over several years of production. As far as we have been able to determine it is a problem with the sensor that feeds back the position of the zoom motor. I had a camera just a few days ago with this exact same issue. I swapped out the controller board and it did not change the behavior at all.
I would suggest either sending the camera to a repair facility, or returning it to the manufacturer for service if you wish to get it repaired. The resolution will probably involve replacement of the set of sensors that feed-back the lens position to the control board.
This issue is a problem with most Sony cameras, and as I said we have seen it several times and have not yet been able to identify the source. We forward cameras with this behavior on to Sony for service.
