Audio out and video out should be connected to the tv using rca jacks. Or you can use the cable connection to the tv and set the tuner to channel 3 or 4.

How do I connect a Emerson TV to a Magnavox DVD?

You will need either an S-Video connector and two RCA connectors, or three RCA connectors. Use either the S-video connector or one RCA connector to connect the video, and use the two RCA connectors to connect LEFT and RIGHT audio. Done.

Trying to connect my magnavox with the TV. I can hear the audio, but I can't see the video. The DVD side works fine.

See if the output on the back that you have it connected to is only for the dvd..there may be another on that puts video out no matter what is playing

may be your tv systems don't have an accessory for audio video input. but you can hookup that by using an RF modulator adapter, this is a converter from audio / video to RF signal and connected directly to your antenna connection. you can purchase that RF modulator adapter to an electronics store.

Cant hook dvd/vcr to my cable box the manual says I need a extern

The cable box IS an external tuner.  You should connect the video output (either S video, HDMI, or component video) of the cable box to the video input of the DVD.  Then connect the audio output of the cable box to the audio input of the DVD via stereo RCA cables.  If your tv monitor has multiple inputs (ie: video 1, 2, and 3...) connect the video and audio output of the DVD to your tv monitor using an alternate video input (if cable box goes into your tv thru video 1, connect the DVD to video 2).  If your cable box only has one output, or your tv has only one input, then just connect your cable box to the DVD as above, and connect the DVD to your tv.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

HOW DO I CONNECT MAGNAVOX DVD/ VCR TO VIZIO FLAT SCREEN

Is simply. get the audio/vido cables and look on the back of the TV and connect from the audio video outputs from the combo to the audio video inputs on the tv. remember the colors of the terminals and connect them that matches the red, white (audio) and the yellow (video). Using the remote locate the button "input" or "source", and select video 1 or 2, depending where you connected it.

Hook up

connect yellow white and red cables FROM AUDIO/VIDEO out from the dvd player to the tv. connect your cable wire or coaxial cable to this unit. (the first one is going to be on your tv disconnect that one and put it on this unit where it says ANT IN.) connect the cable that came with it on ANT OUT or a cable that you might have and then turn on tv. and use your original remote to your television and look for a button that is regarding input or tv/video or tv/av. This function will only be on your tv remote. NOT DIRECT TV.
