I've lost all sound in my HP Laptop after installing Vista SP2. I checked audio device drivers, made sure that nothing was muted, no luck. I also get an error message C00D11B1 when I try to play CD's or music files in Media Player 11. Help, please.

Conexant High Definition Audio will fail when upgrading to Vista SP2. If that is what is running on your system then you do not have to reinstall the driver, just remove it from the device manager and restart the machine. It will re-detect the device and usually fix itself.

The sound icon on my HP laptop disappeared

If the sound is muted go into the Volume control and uncheck the Mute box.
If this does not work then reinstall the audio driver.
You can download the audio and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windows drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

Can't get sound on my Samsung laptop

before doing anything, make sure that you do not have the sound muted.click on the speaker in the bottom right corner, and check your settings, make sure that the volumes are up and that nothing is muted.if you do still have a problem.
Click Start, control Panel, sound, Devices... if this sub menu is grayed out, then you lost your driver for your sound card and you need to re install it again. if it is still there and it is in black and you can see the type of device it is. then leave it alone, it is simply muted.Tony

No sound output device is installed

Check your Volume and make sure you do not have it on mute. If you installed the drivers then the volume must be muted. Right Click on the megaphone at the bottom right near the time and open the volume controls. Make sure there is nothing muted.

You can also get to the sound and audio volume controls by clicking Start/Control Panel and look for Audio or Sound.

I installed windows xp pro and i have no sound cf-50 toughbook CF-50BB2NUDM I`ve tried Realtek and the panasonic sound driver download site nothing has worked so far.

Have you check Device Manager and under sound, video and game controllers to see if you have any yellow ? marks next to anything. You would go to start-control panel-system-hardware-device manager.
If you have any yellow marks missing then you will need to find the driver for those.
It may be a codec that you need too.
Also Start/ control panel/ Sounds check that MUTE is not selected and that volume is UP.
Could be these drivers that you need Audio Output: Sound card Audio Codec: STAC9751 Compliant Standards: AC '97.
Check this site and make sure you have the complete model number, There are several different ones for your Cf51 that should look like this CF-51xxxxA/H/Qxx (mk1) . Some model numbers require that you have Sevice Pack 2 or SP2 for windows installed for the sound driver to work.
