Remove sole plate and beater bar.
Remove control knob by prising between yellow plastic side of knob and casing using wide bladed screwdriver.
There three torx headed screws holding the clotch assembly in place. Two are visible but the third is accessed via a circular access holein the main casing.
When these three screws are removed the clutch assembly can be pulled out. the thinner belt driven by the motor needs easing over the motor shaft.
There are two screws holding the end plate onto the clutch assembly. remove these, twist the end plate and remove. note where the fibre clutch plate and the metal plate fit and replace this belt.
On opposite end prise off spring washer and this assembly comes off the reveal the belt.

Refitting is the reverse.
Have a look on you tube and type in replacing clutch on Dyson DC4 as there is a 10 minute vidio that is quite good!!
Hope this helps!!!!!

Have the vacuum cleaner standing upright. Look at the cover where carpet height control is. Six inches to the right and left of the knob are little black screws. take them off and the cover should remove easily. your busted belt will be resting on the right hand side.

SOURCE: Dyson DC4 Brush will not spin - have checked belt

The bearings on your brush have gone bad. Buy a new roller brush and replace the belt as well, even if the old one seems o.k. Most people don't realize that roller brushes have bearings in the ends that allow them to turn quickly and smoothly. If you get hair wrapped around the roller brush, this will kill the bearings.

Dc4 has low suction

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

Low suction from your Dyson DC07 can be directly related to basic vacuum upkeep and maintenance. Here's some simple things you can do for your vacuum to help ensure optimal performance and to keep your vacuum running for a long time with great suction.

After every use, make sure to empty your Dyson's dust cup. Allowing for fine dust and debris to rest in your unit's dust cup for a long period may cause your unit to become clogged.

Wash and clean your unit's filter screen weekly. To do so, empty your filter screen outdoors to take off any excess debris and then clean under running water until the water comes out clean. Allow the filter screen to fully dry before inserting it back into the unit. This may take up to several hours. Be sure to allow it to FULLY dry.

Foam and cloth filters should also be washed and dried weekly, by following the same steps from cleaning the filter screen. Do not use any soap, dishwasher, dryer or washing machine to do so. Allow your filters to air dry for 24 hours before re-installing them in your Dyson.

Last, make sure to clear your brush roll of any hair strands or debris monthly and to replace at least every year. When examining your brush roll take note of the condition of the bristles. Are they loose? If so this would be a good time to change your brush roll.

While checking the brush roll you might as well examine your Dyson's belt. With use the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. So if your belt feels loose as well replace that.

All of the previous general maintenance tips will help improve your vacuums suction and overall performance.

How do you change the bel on Dyson DC14 Animal? WE can't seem to get access to the belt

Belt maintenance DC14 animal. Dyson would not recommend that the belt on your particular machine is replaced by anyone other than a suitably trained electrician or Dyson Service Engineer.
It is not expensive to get it done locally. If you want to know who can do it, call the free Dyson helpline on 0800 954 0154 which is open from 7am to 10pm 7 days a week or email [email protected]
When you have found someone local, you can call, ask them the cost, then make your decision.
If you already have a spare belt and feel confident to change it on your DC14, I suggest you Google for the following.
'Dyson DC14 animal change belt', where you should find it, as I did for my DC07Allergy. I found the solution AND changed my belt on about half an hour. This is not a recommendation for you to change it yourself. You do it at your own risk.
