Connect your external hard drive to your computer. If the external hard drive is brand new, you will need to format it using the seagate hard drive **** utility. Then highlight all the files you want to copy and right click the mouse, then choose copy. Go to the external hard drive again right click and choose paste. Depending on the number of files  and your computers speed, this may take up to a couple hours.

You can this many different ways. The most straightforward is to go to the drive and select "folder and file options" in the view menu and selct "show hidden files", that way when you copy and paste you will get every single file. The other way is to use a program such as Acronis Tru Image and use the clone option. I am assuming that you want an image of your C:\ drive.

How to recove Seagate external hard drive data?

Probably, the new operating system cannot recognize your Seagate external hard drive. You can connect the Seagate external hard drive to another computer to copy data to another device. If the problem still exists, you might need to perform data recovery. You can free download the data recovery software: http://www.icare-recovery.com/seagate-recovery/seagate-external-cannot-be-recognized.html

How do I get everything from my external hard drive onto my Mac and then completely clear the ehd?

The problem you really face is a lack of space on the Mac. The movement of files from the Seagate to the Mac is easy. Plug in the drive and open it, then select the items you want to transfer from the Seagate and drag them to the location on the Mac where you want to store them. Job Done. When the files have all been transferred you just need to "Format" the external drive.

How do I work on my data on the Seagate FreeAgent 2TB GoFlex Desktop USB 2.0 Hard Drive as my computer memory is at capacity. I want to be able to use my external hard drive as an extension of my computer...

Assuming you are using a Windows operating system, you can just plug it into your computer's USB ports, and the computer will recognise it as another hard drive.

Instructions:
Double-click on 'My Computer' and take note of what drive letters are there (C:, D:, etc.) before you plug in the Seagate Freeagent.
Plug in the Seagate Freeagent. You'll see the new drive, likely E: or F: (depending on what is already there before you plugged in the Seagate Freeagent)
Double-click on the new drive, and it'll open up and you'll see the files stored on that drive. You can drag and drop files and save to this drive like any other folder on your computer.

Seagate Freeagent not accessible - bad partition data. Any way to recover files?

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

I see only one out of meny dir's in seagate freeagent go ext disk

It sounds disk I/O is creating problem refershing the contents in hard drive.

You can try changing the drive letter on your hard drive, might help.

Also, if any kind of corruption, you can try disk error checking scandisk

If nothing works, there is other way to see your data in cmd
go to Start->run->type "cmd" and hit enter

To go to your External drive's letter you should know the drive for eg, if your external drive letter is D Drive just type D: in cmd and hit enter. Now you will see he prompt D:\, type dir to list the directories and files in that directory/folder

If you are able to see your files in CMD, you can still back them up

Data Recovery from Seagate Desktop Expansion 500GB External Hard

This is a solution I have used in the past and it has worked. It's a Seagate Recover utility for end users.
https://services.seagate.com/diysoftware.aspx

If the data is absolutley critical and very valuable, you can send it to Seagate and they are very good at recovery as well. It gets a little pricey at $800, but I too have had to use that as well for mission critical data I could not afford to lose.
