My laptop keyboard does no work so i cant get past the password on my laptop

what dell, 40 years almost now, 1980s to now, made
we cant guess what you own here, be silly to try..?
the keyboard is bad.
or the unstated OS is corrupted.

only one of the 3 you said LAPTOP
but no model.
this modern laptop has 4 levels of password
1: bios users.
2: bios admin
3: windows login screen (this?)
4: and online microsoft live accounts.

at the least.
my guess is the keyboard is bad, if BIOS fails
for password that is a bad keyboard.
try plugging in a desktop usb keyboard to the laptop
see , the keys do work,

To get around the problem, open a text file (e.g. notepad but not word)
type your password and for the number 4, copy it from a website ) and paste it into the text file. (So you could copy it from this page, just highlight the number 4 here and then right click, copy and then go to your notepad file and paste it in).

When you have your password composed in the text file, highlight it and copy then paste it into the password field for your email. Make sure you copy only the password and no spaces that might appear at the end of the password.

To fix the number 4 key, you might be able to gently pry it off, clean the area gently with a cotton tip ... replace the key. Sometimes they are just dirty. But be very careful, you can end up damaging more than just the one key.

It is quite easy to replace keyboards on laptops so if you have a friend who is a fix it sort of person...just google replace keyboard [enter your laptop name] and you'll find a video or instructions.

Try putting a new battery in the wireless keyboard.

You can remove or change the Window's User oradministrator's password. Password can be reset by removing cmos battery for a while. Keyboard maybe found if parts laptop can be found on ebay.?

Make sure the NUM Lock key is lit and if it is and it still beeps then the keyboard is bad and will need to be replaced.

a usb keyboard will do the trick but you have to start the laptop with the keyboard plugged in, you can use that to activate the on screen keyboard if you desire until you work out what is wrong with the laptop keyboard and if you need to replace it

ok..... firstly check to make sure the "NUM LOCK" is off!!! if no joy get a usb keyboard and restart the pc with keyboard plugged in, hopefully if the usb controllers are enabled in the bios you will be able use the usb keyboard and enter your password, use it until you resolve the issue

Remove the Battery

Remove the Hard Disk

Remove the DIMM Memory from underneath the Laptop and remove the 2x KEYBOARD screws

Turnover laptop and REMOVE the KEYBOARD by pushing back the 4 x Spring clips between keys "esc" & "F1" - "F4" & "F5" - "F8" & "F9" - "F12" & "DELETE"

Remove the 2nd DIMM Memory and Unclip the Battery from Mainboard.

Leave for 30 minutes then start with mains ONLY no battery or Hard Disk

Hey Presto - BIOS NOW RESET including Password
