Not sure if it's the same problem as mine! My battery was ran completly flat and then wouldn't turn on even after being plugged into the computer and hours of it juset sayin 'connecting'. I looked on Sony's website and found this -
Cause:
Battery is 100% discharged. Therefore, PC's USB with 5V/500mA set up has not enough power to start up the charging process because loading current is greater than the set up, therefore USB is disabled immediately due to sudden current load. Remedy:
Battery must not be discharged 100%
If it happens then the supplied AC adaptor must be used firstly because it is providing 5V/800mA power. After a couple of minutes the unit can be connected to PC without problem then it can continue the charging during file transfer, etc.
I bought a usb adapter charger plugged it in and its back to normal!
Red light indicates that the battery is out of charged., Now if th ebatetry is out of charged there will be no chances for you to connect it using your computer., C530 will not charged using the USB cable., try to charged the batetry or purchase new sets of battery
FIrst make sure you have the latest drivers downloaded. Then turn on phone first, Then plug in to cord. Screen may show black pic when connected to pc.
The power connector on the motherboard is not making contact.
This is not a simple procedure to correct due to the laptop needing to be completely disassembled to get access to the motherboard.
If you gently move the power cord around in a circle while pushing towards the laptop it should get power to it until it moves out of place again. Do this while watching the lights panel for any signs of light. Also remember it will take a second or so for the battery charge light to show power entering the laptop, so move the cord very slowly.
The suggested soloution will invole the laptop being sent to your local laptop repair centre for this to be corrected, or if you still have warranty, then get it done by Toshiba.
It is also a common fault to all laptops.. There is just not enough strength in the solder that holds the power connector in place to take years of connecting/disconnecting of the cable.
