I had a similar problem with my Sony NWZ-818 today and simply pressed the reset button with a pin to reboot the player (little hole on the side) and it worked!

I had a similar problem, mine wouldn’t turn on unless I plugged it in the computer and then it still wouldn’t work!
I found this on Sony’s trouble shooter -
Cause:
Battery is 100% discharged. Therefore, PC's USB with 5V/500mA set up has not enough power to start up the charging process because loading current is greater than the set up, therefore USB is disabled immediately due to sudden current load.
Remedy:
Battery must not be discharged 100%
If it happens then the supplied AC adaptor must be used firstly because it is providing 5V/800mA power. After a couple of minutes the unit can be connected to PC without problem then it can continue the charging during file transfer, etc.
So I bought a USB adapter charger! Plugged it in and now it is working!
HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!

Are you trying to charge it through the computer? If so try through a main charger! I had similar problem but found this on Sony website -

I have a problem with my player which could well be related, the unit appears to power off but in reality is still draining the battery (I never see the "every moment has it's music" thing)
I've replaced the battery and upgraded the firmware to no effect , so I think the hardwares at fault, all I can do for the moment is leave the player plugged into USB until I need to use it.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Just try Wondershare Video Converter Platinum which could convert avchd, m2ts and other common video to the format fit for your sony walkman nwz-e344.

Hi there, I can not really make out if youhave tried to locate and open your files through this method; Plug your mp3 into the computer through the usb cord. A window will appera in less then a minute (a fast computer it will be seconds) a window will appear asking you what you want to do with this'device"..Close that window (x). Click the "start" button on the screen (in one of the screens corners), a menu will drop down, click on "my computer". This will open up a window. In this window you will see numerous "discs" listed (for example, the harddrive is usually disc (c)...)I had a mp3 player that was under disc letter (f) and I've had a mp3 player that was under disc (e), I don't know why, but you need to open any "discs" you have. one by one (skipping disc (c) the harddrive usually). Once you open a disc you are looking for a folder (it could have the name of your mp3 on it, or it could be just some wild numbers, sometimes it's actually marked "music"). Just open any folders till you see the music, pictures or video's you are looking for, then you'll have found the folder to your mp3, now you can copy the song you want (or mp4 jpeg etc) and paste it in this folder and it will appear in your mp3...
Let me know how it went, , if you have anymore questions just ask me and I'll do my best...Don't forget to rate, thank you!

Have experienced similar issues to yourself. When I try to connect the bluetooth headphones the unit will not pick them up then, when ending bluetooth, the unit freezes. I found that pressing the reset button with a pin (on the rear) will turn the player on again. However, this has not yet solved the bluetooth connectivity issue.

your computer must not have the correct programs to open those files

Hi shannonaliot,
Walkmans are supposed to go into a non-responsive state when they're connected, no buttons would work and it'll only bear one line of "Connected" or something else - there is nothing unusual about this. It should work again when disconnected. But just a reminder - do not suddenly disconnect the device if it is not recognized as an MTP device.

how long have u used it? How did u recharge the battery? I think its the battery problem. Li Polymer battery should be managed differently. No complete discharge, No direct sunlight for hours... ect. U can switch the battery at the SONY or could do it by yourself. Get a battery from ebay.

I just bought mine yesterday and after turning it off whilst the bluetooth was disconnecting it would not turn on again. Then I pushed the reset button on the back and it has started working again.
