Scanning for video

I am using a canon 4200f and scanning slides and photos for a video project. The quality is great but they are to small for the Final Cut propgram I am using. When viewing the pictures do not fill the frame. Any ideas?

After the first scan through select the zoom in functionality to just scan the area you want to zoom in. That way the scanned image will be much bigger and better quality.

WHAT DIMENSION OF PHOTOS SHOULD BE USED FOR SLIDE SHOW AND FORMAT JPG OR BMP??

how much quality do you want and if photo is small to start with and you are scanning it you will need 600 dpi or more where as a larger photo can use less 300 DPi as it is not being enlarged onto the screen / slide show
depends on what you intend storing the pictures on . BMP will take up a lot more memory than jpeg files. The dimension more refers to dots per square inch when scanning a photo .

Black and white photos from many years ago now have a blue-green hue on them when they are scanned. it started after I scanned old slides.

Did you make changes to the scan type when you scanned the slides? It sounds like you have the scanner set to do a negative image as a slide would need.
Check the preferences for the scan type.
The scanning manual is available on Canon's Website.

First, try unplugging and re-seating the USB cable in your computer. I am assuming your scanner is not making any noise when you first turn on the computer. If that is not the case, respond back with more information. This is the most common solution to this problem with these scanners though.

I have a CanoScan 5200F

Because the slides are see through which means you will need a special add on for the scanner for it to support slides. If you have this already then make sure that it is fitted on properly so no light can get in the compartment where the slides are held during the scan
