I cant open an ip address for an assigned webpage.
This is what I have the Web-Xpander is a serial (RS-232) to ethernet module with embedded web pages that allows monitoring and control of STARGATE(home automation) and other controllers via the internet and local network. i assumed the modem /routers DHCP sent the ip address, netmask, gateway and dns settings to the module. When i input the ip address in a browser it does not open. i tried to manually enter the info also , no luck. How can u help me? There are several private address ranges that may be affecting the operations you are attempting to perform see table

192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.0 All addresses in this range in your network are only directly addressable to machines within your network at most by default. The router to your ISP and the internet as a whole maps these addresses onto the IP address assigned statically or dynamically by your ISP to the WAN side of your router using an address translation (NAT) service. So where you are attempting to connect to this device from may be significant. You may need to review your setup guide to see if it references router configuration requirements to support access to the Web_xpander port from devices not attached to your internal network. If you have multiple internal networks (address ranges and not devices) this could also be an issue.
Secondly -- does the Setup software for the device tell you the IP address assuming it is dynamically assigned. Otherwise how would you know what the address is. Static assignment could resolve that issue however you must understand your network to assign your own address. Given a theoretical network where the router gateway is 192.169.0.1 and the network mask is 255.255.255.0 the valid network addresses are 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.255. A router or other device supporting DHCP address assignment reserves another range such as 192.168.0.100 for 50 leases (ending at 192.168.0.149) for dynamic assignment to requesting network adapters. Ignoring the 0 and 255 address this leaves open to the network administrator (you in your home) the possibility of assigning static IP address in the ranges of say 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99 and 192.168.0.150 - 192.168.0.254 or so. You as well as the DHCP server are required to assure that there are no duplicate IP addresses assigned on your network. So statically assigning 192.168.0.100 (which is DHCP assignable in our case) could and would most likely result in duplicate addressing and network problems.

Hi, not sure why this is coming under the router section. You'd need to post a little more information about the problem. Is it with the IP address settings on your router or those wirthin the printer itself. If its
the printer itself - the problem solution is available here possibly.

To open the HP Embedded Web Server, type the IP address or hostname of the printer in the address field of a supported Web browser. To find the IP address, print a Configuration page from the control panel of the printer by pressing and holding the Go button for 5 seconds. The HP Embedded Web Server URL can be bookmarked for quick access at a later date. Supported web browsers include the following:

Once the HP Embedded Web Server opens, perform the following steps to configure a static IP address:
Click the Networking tab.

Some please correct me if I'm wrong here .. If it's connected to the network, obtain the IP address and open up your web browser and type in the ip address of the machine, into the address bar this will take you to the web server. I'm not real familiar with the machine, however once on the machines embedded web server should be able to find the page count as this machine allows usage tracking for users and groups, which get configured thru the embedded web server.

If the computer is connected to an HP All-in-One on a network, you can access the Embedded Web Server that resides in the HP All-in-One. The Embedded Web Server is a web-based user interface that provides some options not available on the HP All-in-One control panel, including advanced network security options. The Embedded Web Server also enables you to monitor status and order printer supplies.
For information on how to use the features available in the Embedded Web Server, see the onscreen help within the Embedded Web Server. To access Embedded Web Server help, open the Embedded Web Server, then click the Help link under Other Links on the Embedded Web Server Home tab.
NOTE:
Only use the Embedded Web Server to change network settings if you cannot access the HP All-in-One control panel, or you need to change an advanced option not available on the control panel.
Access the Embedded Web Server
Use the following instructions to access the Embedded Web Server. You can only access the Embedded Web Server on a computer that is connected to an HP All-in-One on a network.
Press Setup on the HP All-in-One.
Press until Network is highlighted, then press OK . The Network Menu displays.
Select View Network Settings menu, then press OK .
Select Print Network Configuration Page , then press OK . A configuration page prints, including the IP address. You will use the IP address in the next step.

How to Configure the Switch
Some configuration is necessary to enable the switch’s advanced switching
capabilities. This is achieved via the Command Line Interface (CLI). On the
AT-8624T/2M, you can also use the Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Using the CLI to configure a switch
1. Connect a terminal or PC to the Terminal Port (ASYN0).
Using the supplied RS-232 DB9 serial straight-through cable, connect your
terminal or PC to the RS-232 Terminal Port:
• For the AT-8624T/2M and AT-8624PoE, the RS-232 Terminal Port is on
the front panel.
• For the AT-8648T/2SP, the RS-232 Terminal Port is on the back panel.
2. Set the communication parameters.
Set the communication parameters on your terminal or terminal emulation
program to:
• Bit rate: 9600
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: None
• Stop bits: 1
• Flow control: None
3. Log in.
After the switch has booted, the login prompt appears. If the login prompt
does not appear, press [Enter] two or three times.
When the switch boots for the first time it automatically creates an
account with manager privileges. The account has the login name manager
and the password is friend.
At the login prompt, enter the login name and password:
Login: manager
Password: friend
The switch’s command prompt appears. Now use the CLI to configure the
switch.
Using the GUI to configure the AT-8624T/2M switch
This section describes how to establish a connection to the AT-8624T/2M switch
through the GUI so you can configure it before installing it in your LAN.
1. Select a PC to use and identify its subnet.
You can browse to the switch from any PC that is running a supported
operating system with a supported browser installed. JavaScript must be
enabled. If you are using a toolbar or plug-in on your browser to block popups,
disable it while using the GUI. The GUI displays detailed configuration
options and information in pop-up windows.
2. Connect the PC to the switch.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect an Ethernet card on the PC to any one of
the switch ports.
You can browse to the router through any VLAN, as long as you give that
VLAN an IP address. These instructions assume you are using vlan1. All
switch ports belong to vlan1 by default.
3. Access the switch’s command line interface.
Access the CLI from the PC, as described in the previous section, “Using
the CLI to configure a switch”.
