Usb ports quit working on my hp netbook 1151nr mini

Plugged in usb cable 4 printer my hp netbook 1151nr mini rebooted didnt install printer and now none of my usb ports work and neither does my sd card reader

    I cannot understand the logic in your actions, it's beyond me. Have you checked the USB controllers in your control panel?

Hey, i have the same problem except my usb ports work with otherdevices plugged in. Just not when I plug in a printer to the usb

    No, you do not have to buy a wireless printer. Connect the printer via the USB port, printer should have come with a USB cable.

    refresh the USB ports:
    1. Right click MY COMPUTER
    2. Select PROPERTIES
    3. Select HARDWARE
    4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
    5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
    6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
    7. Uninstall all entries
    8. Reboot your computer
    9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
    THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB drive

    Guessing that your netbook is running Windows XP as most do, you'll want to download the XP drivers for your printer and install them. Then try hooking it up to one of your netbooks usb ports.

    serial to usb is not plug and play so i don't believe this configuration will ever work.
    parrallel to usb is plug and play 90% of the time.
    purchasing and installing a port replicator is a 100% fix as long as the formatter on the printer is working properly. good luck!

    Computer does not recgonize my hp printer, running windows vista home edition 32-bit oprerating system
    firstly:
    • have you installed the driver for the HP printer,if not do so.
    • is the HP printer Vista compatible, it should say in the literature that came with it .if its an older printer probably not compatible.
    • follow the installation directions fully ( plug the usb cable in when it asks for it etc).
    • use a different usb cable as it may be faulty.
    • check the usb port with another item such as a memory stick to ensure it is working or use another port.
    • remove any printers installed prior to trying to install HP printer and reboot the system.
