Computer does not recgonize my hp printer, running windows vista home edition 32-bit oprerating system

    have used this printer before on vista (hp photosmart C6180) and worked fine, but somehow (or something is missing), have tried to download drivers for this printer and still does not help

Firstly:

  • have you installed the driver for the HP printer,if not do so.
  • is the HP printer Vista compatible, it should say in the literature that came with it .if its an older printer probably not compatible.
  • follow the installation directions fully ( plug the usb cable in when it asks for it etc).
  • use a different usb cable as it may be faulty.
  • check the usb port with another item such as a memory stick to ensure it is working or use another port.
  • remove any printers installed prior to trying to install HP printer and reboot the system.

    well if you tried what i suggested, & it still will not work,it may be a fault in the printer.
