How do I switch from Vista Basic to Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1525? Vista Basic is freezing up, so instead of fixing it I just want to upgrade to Premium. It works perfectly on my other laptop. I have the os disk , but am having problems installing it. I put in the cd and it started and went straight to the Basic desktop. I then tried to change the boot order and the same thing happened. What am I doing wrong?

you need to buy a license key from microsoft for about a couple hundred dollars then download the software either from microsoft's website or you can buy the disk in a store
You need a Vista premium disk to upgrade to Vista premium.
Just instert the Vista premium disk and start the installation.
If installation does not start, you will need to boot from setup CD, sometimes you have to change the bios boot sequence in bios settings, to start the installation from CD.
