The latest ERD Commander is ERD Commander 2007 and I have the CD but it won't work on Vista because Vista SAM is different from the XP version and ERD Commander 2007 can't find the Windows Vista SAM.

There is an edr for vista although it is not called erd, Microsoft bought them out and they made a Microsoft diagnostics and recovery toolset which is available to IT professionals. you can make a "erd" disk from the toolset. I don't know where you can get it other than microsoft and I am not even sure just anybody can get it. but i am sure there are ways to get it.

I haven't had a chance to use this tool yet, but PC World had an article about a new, free Vista Recovery disk. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,71039-page,1-c,downloads/description.html

Incorrect. They just renamed it to "Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset" Which does indeed work for Vista and 7. Google it =)

tip

To convert a FAT partition to NTFS:

Click Start, click Programs, and then click Command Prompt.
In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type CONVERT [driveletter]: /FS:NTFS.
Convert.exe will attempt to convert the partition to NTFS.
NOTE: Although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion from FAT to NTFS is minimal, it is best to perform a full backup of the data on the drive that it is to be converted prior to executing the convert command. It is also recommended to verify the integrity of the backup before proceeding, as well as to run RDISK and update the emergency repair disk (ERD).

Hi dudes. i had erd commander 2007 but it not compatible for win vista. can any one help me to get the win vista compatible erd commander. just send me the link to [email protected]

ERD commander 2007 works for Vista, i have used it several times. ERD cannout always log into the operating system when you boot to it. Often if it is too damaged it wont log in and allow you to system restore or anything.

Lockedout. vist 32, no user but me.

Use ERD Commander and use locksmith to change "your" password (if it will let you), click OK and reboot the PC, use the new password to log in.
If that does not work then ERD commander has not attached itself to Vista's registry so you will need to download the latest version.
It will be in ISO format so just use burning software to burn it to CD.

Good luck.
