your HDD may be corrupted, re-installing windows vista is one option. Your best bet is if you have/ can obtain a copy of windows vista run setup and try the repair wizard in the windows vista setup, the wizard automatically finds errors and missing files and replaces them therefore solving any errors in your HDD. you can also try to use the recovery wizard from your recovery disc. best of luck

I have a dell inspiron 6400 and every time i turn it on i get a blue screen and it say: a problem has ben detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME...

its called the blue screen of death and it could have been caused by something you installed recently or a hardware issue, have you tried booting your computer into safe-mode using the F8 key if you cannot boot into safe-mode without getting the same issue then you may have to format your hard drive

Dell logo comes , next is black screen with a blinking line in the left top cover... it looks like lost O.S. but i have no CD or disc recovery

The issue might be with the corrupted display drivers or missing windows files. You can install the missing files from USB and using it to Boot.

Hi my dell inspiron 1525 keeps freezing on me and i have to restart it, it says i need a new battery and wonderd if this was the reason as ive had a virus check and all ok any ideas??

Try runnig a diagnostics.. Press and hold the Fn and then turn on the computer.. Then it will run a diagnostics.. If it gives any error code you need to replace parts accordingly...
You can use the following link if you get error codes

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=14B3819735D6B40EE0401E0A55177ED2

If diagnostics passes then please reinstall the OS then everything will be up and running..
If you have windows vista on the computer then tap F8 when the computer turns on and then you will be able to see the advanced boot options.. Select repair my computer.. In the repair my computer screen select the dell factory image restore...
Your computer will go through the installation and it will be up and running...
If you have windows Xp then you have to turn on the computer and when the dell logo appears you have to simultaneously press control and the F11key.. You will be able to reinstall the OS in this way..

Thank u....

When I start dell 1525 it say bad windows image.

Sounds like a corrupt windows install. Boot to the Diagnostics (Fn+Power button) and see if it indicates a hardware failure.
If diags pass, and running Vista, then Boot to Vista DVD and try repair my computer options. If XP, boot to XP CD, R for recovery console and run CHKDSK /R
Most likely you will need to either re-image the drive from the F8 menu for Vista or CTRL+F11 for XP, or if the hard drive is failing replace the hard drive.

Dell Inspiron 1525 - Dell Screen- Windows Boot Manger Screen

If it's XP:

You can try a chkdsk or do an XP repair: (your data will not be be erased)
Chkdsk
Take the Windows XP disk. Boot from it, then DO NOT select F2 (automated system recovery) but continue through the procedure until you get to the point where you can choose between installing Windows XP and entering the Recovery Console. Once you get into the Recovery Console, do chkdsk and fix potential errors on your disks! Chkdsk C: /R

XP repair
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your Applications or data; it just reinstalls the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.

If it is Vista, you would need to do a recovery.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
