SanDisk 4GB cruzer URGENT problem! Please, please help! :)

Hi,

I have been using a Sandisk 4GB cruzer micro for about a month. Until tonight, I had no problems with it. The software always loaded, but after a while didn't load b/c I tended to just keep the cruzer in the F: drive. My computer still recognized it. When I did take it out, I tended to not go through the fussy "Eject" formality. But when I turned on my computer tonight, the drive was not even recognized. Earlier today it was fine. I have to finish essays for a really important med school application due TOMORROW (I know, I should have emailed the essays to myself...stupid.)

What can I do? I've tried restarting the computer with the cruzer in and with the cruzer out. I've tried finding help via websites. No luck. My computer simply doesn't recognize it. I can't even find the Sandisk/U3 software on my computer.

Please help!!!!!!! I will be ever so grateful.

Best,
Lauren

    Hi,
I just bought the 4 gb cruzer flash drive. I got it to store photos and documents from my computer because I needed a new operating system and I knew I would lose everything on my hard drive. Then I loaded everything back on it and it was fine. Now I put the flash drive back in to delete everything and store new images and my computer doesn't recognize it. I tested my usb drive with another flash drive and that read fine. I hope you can help me with this.
    Thank you,
    Karen

My 4GB SanDisk Micro Cruizer is extremely hot to the touch and is not recognized by any of my USB ports. I will try sticking it in the freezer to see if this helps, but I have never had a problem like this with the drive previously...what would cause it to heat up and not be recognized by the USB port? If sticking it in the freezer doesn't help, is there anything else that can be done?

It may have overheated and became stuck. Stick it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 1/2 hour then try it. Do not leave it out without power for long or moisture will condense on it.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive My Drive is Empty How Do I Get U3Smart The Drive To Factory Settings. My Model is SDCZ6-4096A10 SN# BH0701l5B

According to Scandisk:

As of October 1st 2009, SanDisk started shipping the Cruzer Micro (SDCZ6-XXX) product line without the U3 software pre-installed on the device.

During the transition period, there may have been a small number of devices that were packaged in older packaging that states the device includes the U3 software. If you purchased one of these devices and would like to use the U3 software, please download and install it.
