I have a new ONN DVD player and there is no sound when I play a DVD. There are no instructions with the player, so I just connected the yellow, red and white connections to my TV. Do I need to also connect to my cable with coaxial cable?

Hi
You can connect with HDMI Lead this should gave you sound not really need the coaxial cable but there no harm in using the 2 of them, some times there is a place in your TV Menu on some TV to tun sound on or to pair it with your TV.
All the best and good luck.
Clive from Holyhead.

onnect to my cable with coaxial cable?

SOURCE: dvd won't send picture/audio to tv

for video, 3ways and any of this should work.
Step1, video out of dvd to video in on top at video1 section on tv. or
Step2, svideo out of dvd to svideo in at video1 section on tv. or
Step3. using component video DVD unit component video out to TV unit component video in at video2 Y to Y input of TV Pb to Pb input of TV Pr to Pr input of TV
for audio, connect left/right audio of dvd to left/right input of tv. Input section of TV is in the middle. on tv back panel from left to right is antenna input, IN section - this is it, use this for all your connections. let us know if you have any issues. thanks.

SOURCE: Sound Problems?!

If you have just basic cable with no box, your tv must have audio out. If you do have a box then you can come out of it. Digital coax or optical would be better for the dvd if it has it.

MY onn dvd player is showing black and white

Check your warranty. Call for support.
*** The following is for information only.***
* If your player and TV set was working prior to this then it's probably playing a black and white movie or the TV color setting is off and needs to be reset.
* For TV go to menu, Picture, Color set up. (Best to restore to factory settings as a starting point.)
* For DVD try a known "color' movie (at least something later than 1965) if it plays in color then the older disk is B&W.
* If someone pulled out the cable (Yellow, Red, and White) this is the Video (Yellow) and Audio Left-White, Audio Right-Red.
* Check this cord for damage and reconnect into corisponding color coded jacks. Note; this cord will not affect the "color of the set other than not show up at all - Blank screen if wrong plug inserted.
* Call TV support line (or DVD support) for advice.

I am trying to hook up the mvd2016 to a visio tv that is hooked to our cable converter box. I hooked it up, i have the tv but no sound.

your RCA jacks from the DVD player....should be connected to the Vizio a/v 1 in the back of TV (yellow to yellow, red & white to red & white)... now to view using the remote to TV switch to a/v (play a DVD, you should now have a picture and sound)

DVD player and receiver will not play a dvd in surround sound ?

The dvd player is responsible for reading the surround sound track, and sending it to the receiver. First make sure you are playing the surround sound track on the dvd, many have a stereo track too. Next, try another dvd and see if you can play surround sound on that one. If you can't play surround on ANY dvd I would start looking at the audio connection from dvd to receiver. Are you using an optical cable? Red, white, and yellow RCA cables? Optical will transmit any sound over only one cable, RCA cables need one cable for each channel (LF, C, RF, LR, RR, sub.) If your connections are correct, is the receiver set to play a surround sound track? Is it set in 2 channel mode?

How do we hook up the D.V.D. player to the T.V. We think we have done it correct but it does not play.

couple of ways but the easiest way would be connecting the video and audio out from DVD (need rca connections yellow red and white)
Yellow --- Video
white and red is audio out left and right.
find in your tv set inputs with similar colors its going to be input 1
or input 2 (as an example)
once you conect the cable matching colors yellow to yellow red to red and white to white make sure you select the same input on your set (video 1 or 2) that its throu input selection in remote control from tv or set itself.

Dvd player plays with yellow tinge

If you are using a scart connection, check that it is plugged in fully & straight, also check for bent or missing pins.

Sounds like you have no green input.

PLAYING DVD

check your connections on the back of the tv and back of the dvd player. make sure you are using the proper conections on the back of the tv. if you connect the RCA (composite) cables (red yellow white) you should be going from the red yellow white on the tv to the red yellow white on the dvd player. if you have the component(red blue green) connection on the dvd connected to the red yellow white on the tv, you may get a black and white picture. If this does not work, check the manual for the dvd player and see if there is a way to turn "Progressive Scan" features off, some older TV's cannot handle a progressive scan dvd player.
