Going by what you described, I'd say you got the wrong set of boards, this model uses 4 different main boards that aren't interchangeable, it's common to get what you see if the wrong main or tcon is installed, match the serial number on the TV to the board sets.

The VR2 is not a Universal Remote, it is an enhanced facsimile remote (with screen) and has to be ordered specifically to the mystery model of your Vizio television.

Replacing the main board should correct the color issue. Here is a listing for one from shopjimmy, you can get a cheaper board on ebay but good luck getting a working board from there where shopjimmy tests them before they sell. It's not going to be the tcon board, it's either the main or power board, pull the back off and test the PS_ON pin on the power board to see if your loosing the command for power supply enable (3.3VDC) if so replace the main, if it stays then the power supply. Chances are it's your EEPROM that's bad causing the issue your having
