Low battery can be one of the result of kindle frozen. If you know that your Kindle is low on charge at the time it locks up, connect the device to a power source. Always try to charge kindle approximately for 3 minutes before doing anything. After the Kindle has charged, attempt to reset the device by holding down the power button. However, if the problem still persists, contact a technical support service at 1-800-986-4764 to guide you through the troubleshooting process. https://www.smartsnake.net/support-for-kindle-fire/

Suggest to be sure your Kindle is charged up. There are several generations of these devices. Search for reboot procedure online for example ... "reboot kindle 3rd generation".

SOURCE: how to unfreeze kindle screen? my kindle screen has froze

Hey

Well there are a lot of reasons why the Kindle screen freeze.

most of the times it happens when the Kindle is trying to upload some big files like photos, movies, flash etc. in this case all you have to do it to wait and it will un-freeze in couple of seconds.

Another Very common is that the Kindle Memory is full and he can't respond until some of the memory gets free, this usually will happen once you click too many times on the screen, the poor Kindle is overwhelmed with orders and doesn't know what to do, this happens to "newbies" with the kindle.

A lot of these freezing problems can be fixed by resting your Kindle, you can do a Soft reset press the Alt-Shift-R keys at the same time. (Shift is the one that looks like an up arrow.) If that doesn't work, plug your Kindle into the charger and try again.

You can also do a Hard Reset take the cover off the back and insert a paperclip in the little hole. Hold for 10 seconds, you may need to try again with the Kindle plugged into the cradle.

For the Kindle DX Hold the top on/off switch sliding it to the left and keep to the left, hold for 60-80 Sec, Release it. Wait a minute - the DX will flash. Then the screen will go black and then the main Kindle screen (the guy sitting under the tree) will appear and the start up thermometer bar. Once that's completed, the main menu will come on, and your books will be rstored in batches over the next couple of minutes

And of course you can always Call Amazon Customer Service at 1-866-321-8851, 6a-10p PST, 7 days a week

Hope this will be helpful

SOURCE: Don't know how to read my Kindle with little available light

Hi there,

Kindle was designed without a backlight. The only way to read at night is to buy a book light designed for Kindle.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: My Kindle froze, how do I reboot it?

there's a little pinhole at the bottom. insert a paper clip to do a hard reset. Or remove the battery and re-insert it to the same effect.
If all attempts trying to unfreeze it fail, you may have a logic board issue. Are you sure the Kindle powers up? It may show something on the sreen, even if it is not turned on (e-ink screen does not need a powersupply to show an image). Try to power up your Kindle with a different battery. If that fails, you can get the part at Kindle Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to open a kindle and install parts at Kindle Repair Guide.

My Kindle was fine last night before last. It froze when I got ready to read it today. I tried rebooting it but when it came back on half the screen is visible the bottom half stayed frozen. Is there a...

It could be a hardware problem. Half a screen not working doesn't sound good to me. I have a PaperWhite Kindle. I had another Kindle I dropped and it came up like yours, with half a screen showing the picture and the other half the screen showing white. It's now a paper weight.

You can try a total reboot by holding down the power button for about twenty seconds. Mine hangs up every couple months and the touch screen stops responding and the reboot by holding down the power button for about twenty seconds fixes it every time. It takes a few minutes. You have to sit there and watch the slow progress bar fill in as it goes through the re-boot process.

If this doesn't work, you might try removing the back cover, disconnecting the battery. Letting it set for minute or so and then reconnect the battery, re-install the back cover and try a normal short-power button push first and if nothing happens, follow it with the long power button push.

HOW DO I UNDER FREZZER MY KINDLE

Hold the power switch for 20 seconds. Slide the power switch and hold it in place for 20 to 30 seconds before releasing it.
  • You need to physically hold the power switch in its off position for this long. Doing so tells your device to "reboot," in essence, instead of merely shutting down.
  • The reboot screen should appear as soon as you release the power switch.

Give the Kindle time to reboot. The Kindle will reboot within a minute or two. Be patient and give your device ample time to finish its reset.
  • There is some possibility that the Kindle will freeze as it reboots. This may be the case if your Kindle stays frozen on the reboot screen for more than ten minutes.
Charge the Kindle. If the device freezes during the reboot or does not respond to the reset at all, plug the charger in and allow your Kindle to charge for 30 minutes or more.
  • Make sure that your Kindle has enough time to complete a full charge.

Hold the power switch down again. After you finish charging the Kindle, slide the power switch and hold it down for another 20 seconds.
  • The reboot screen should appear again. Give the device a minute or two to reboot before checking it again. This should complete the reset.
