Warning that the computer battery is low or dead.

It could mean that the Motherboard (Main Circuit) could be damaged or could be a fuse problem as you may have said. Although it actually might be the battery, there's one way to find out, if your friend has a DS Lite, ask them if you could borrow your battery for 2 seconds and put their battery in yours to see if it is the battery, if the same thing happens, its the Motherboard (Main Circuit)

If the thick black and orange wire does not have battery voltage, there is a fuseable link near the battery or starter that is melted.
Same thing with the smaller orange and lite blue wire.
The smaller wires involve the computer and the instrument panel warning light.

your battery is very low. Charge the battery for 3 hours. you can still play games, while it charges.

you need to replace the battery its failing to hold charge if its under warranty nintendo will do this for you, if you know anyone else with a dsi see if they mind testing the theory out by swapping batteries for a bit, turn off dsi light begore removing the batteries,

the orange lite is probably the warning light for the battery. it's finding extremely low voltage. if i understand you don't have a battery installed. but that is why it's on.

does the orange light flash of a few seconds after you plug it in? If it does, I think that it is a battery problem. After a lot of charges, the battery's capacity decreases. If your battery LED flashes or is solid Yellow or Amber color, this usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

The flashing light on the front of your laptop is a low battery warning. There probably isn't enough power in the battery to turn on the laptop. You need to plug in the ac power adaptor and let the battery charge until the battery light turns from 'orange', to 'green'.
