SOURCE: A/C blows weak/low volume of air through vents

I f it is fan that has more then one speed if you run it all the time,it may
not be on high sample : low fan speed runs all the time
med fan speed for heat
high fan speed is usually for air conditioning so if everything is good then it maybe the relay.

SOURCE: problem with mitsubishi air roof units

The thermostat would need to be insulated better from the air that is surrounding it. Im assuming that the thermostat is located on the wall unit where it blows out the air. This could mean that it is actually reading more from the outside temp, than whats inside the house. Another thing to consider is the location of the thermostat, even it being close to anything in the house that produces some kind of heat will effect the condition of the air. If anything, its the manufacturers mistake if it was properly installed in the first place and if defective, they should replace it. hope this helps.

Why can't I lower my honeywell 8500 below 67 on cool?

With a two story house you have to be aware that cold air flows downwards so any cold air coming from an ac unit will flow downstairs( normally down the stairway) so unless you can close off the down stairs then the up stairs unit will be cooling downstairs as well. Ac units have a thermostat located in the air intake and it cools until the cold air has risen to that point. In effect the space above the ac unit will be hotter than the floor. Knowing how they work ,you can see that the upstairs unit will never reach the set temperature because the cold air is continually heating from the house and will never get to the top thermostat.
So your solutions are
1-- fit controls that restrict the cold air from leaving the upper floor (Doors)
2--don't run the upper ac unit unless you are living up there (waste of money
)3 place an ac in each upper room and keep the room door closed

Our upstairs Central AC unit will not cool below 80 degrees. Everything is blowing fine. It is 89 degrees outside today. The air coming in thru the ducts is 80 degrees. The downstairs unit blows 70...

you will need a thermometer, you can use a meat therm.take a temp reading of the air going into the return and then coming out of the supply at the unit, it should be at least 15 to 20 degrees cooler in the supply, if not it may be low on refrigerant also check filter and return duct make sure your not pulling air from attic

We have 2 units (upstairs and downstairs) the upper unit no longer cools, we've had several calls done and a coil was replaced, issue persists and it will not cool below 85 degrees. The downstairs unit...

Check the supply air tempeture and the retun air temp.. to do this you put a termitor where the air come out and take the temp. then you check the air at the return where it goes back to the blower. you shoudl see a 15-20 degree diffrence. the oterh thing MIGHT be that cold air is heavier than warm air so it sinks down stairs. close off all the rooms upstairs might help .

Air con unit switches on blows air but air is cold even when hot air is required

you did not specify...if this is a heat pump, make sure you have 24 vac on the O, orange wire at the unit from the stat ...(0vac on Rheem, Ruud). If you do, you may have a bad coil on the reversing valve or a stuck reversing valve, or very low on refrigerant.

My ac blows warm air upstairs only but not downstairs in winter

Sounds like you have a zone system? Is it a bypass type? If it is the fan speed of the heater must be to slow to override the bypass damper. Wire the fan to operate at a single speed same speed as on the A/C.

Ruud Heat Pump blows room temp on Heat and AC setting

A "Heat-Pump" is also known as a reverse cycle air conditioner, this means on heat the outdoor unit acts like the indoor section and vice versa. So in all probability you need to have it leak checked and recharged.

Janitrol Heat Pump

Jenny,

Sounds to be a system freon leak. The unit and the stat talk to each other and if the temp is not reached and the unit shut down in a set amount of time it turns on the E-heat. Now there are other facts that could be involved, plugged filters, dirty coils inside and out, etc. Check your filters first to eliminate that problem.
