I have a Carrier A/C unit - model FX4BNF030. It's one of 2 units in our home, 1 for the upstairs & 1 for downstairs. The #2 unit upstairs is not moving/blowing enough air out of the vents to cool that (hotter!) area of the house. The temperature of the air seems to be the same "coldness" as the properly working unit downstairs. It suddenly just started doing this within the last couple days. I already changed the filters and it's just not moving/blowing more than 25% to 40% of the air volume that the downstairs A/C unit is moving through it. I am not knowledgeable in this area, so any insight and understanding to help fix this problem would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!!! - Paul
I f it is fan that has more then one speed if you run it all the time,it may
not be on high sample : low fan speed runs all the time
med fan speed for heat
high fan speed is usually for air conditioning so if everything is good then it maybe the relay.
If you put your the fan setting on the thermstat to auto then select cool and turn the temp down the fan should start thus the compressor should be running as well. it should be at the correct speed. If the thermstat fan setting is set to manual the fan runs all the time at a slower speed if the relay is not working properly fan will not shift to high speed also the high speed may not be working on the fan motor.when it is on manual you may not be able to hear the fan change speed.

Thanks for responding... I'm not sure about the "fan speed" issue. How do I find out and check to see if this could be my problem? Again, this issue of reduced air flow/volume through the vents happened suddenly. I made no "adjustments" to the system for this to happen. To be clear, I have the 2 of the exact same units in my home - one for upstairs and one for downstairs. The one downstairs is working 100% and blowing much more air volume than the upstairs unit that's giving me trouble. I also don't know how to check the relay, if perhaps that's the issue. Thanks again!
