Pull disconnect or turn off outside, then reset breaker. If it holds, problem likely inside machine. If it still trips check wiring inside the disconnect or at main panel. Sounds like a direct short, either compressor, fan motor or crankcase heater. You can isolate each component right at the contactor by removing wires to each piece and resetting breaker. Obviously when breaker trips you know what part is bad. 220 hurts, if you are not familiar with electricity call a professional.

When you remove the panel to the unit it turns off the power to it. The reinstalling the panel will reconnect power and allow the unit to reset. So the cheapest and easiest thing you can try is to replace the thermostat. Make sure you see how many wires you have connected to your existing tstat and buy near the same thing. It's possible that the tstat is acting up, not allowing the unit to cool when the temp demands. And turning off power is resetting the tstat as well as the unit. It will be hard to troubleshoot with the info provided so a new tstat will be worth a shot. Hope this helps!

try changing contacter and capacitors. the c-083-s drier can be replaced if you pump system down. kind of expensive.

How can you find the model number for our Ruud Achiever 10 since the outside label has unreadable now? Our house was built in 1994.

just get a double pole contactor and rewire using existing contactor to wire new one ,, contacters are generally generic

What is a capacitor

it is what starts yout compressor and fan motor,,,, it causes the current to lead the voltage thereby turning the motors
