The 6SBAR-BS-G most likely has the solid state thermostat that consists of three parts: A solid state control board, a 0-100K potentiometer (connected to the control dial) and a thermistor. The thermistor is the most common part to fail. I would call the factory and ask for technical assistance to help isolate which part has failed. Most service companies do not stock their parts. The factory's number is 800-428-6644 or write an email to [email protected]

I have a Beaumark 5cuft chest freezer BM-CF8500WH that stopped working and it was due to a faulty thermostat. I bought a universal thermostat from Amazon Ranco K59-L1102. It doesn't work very well.

Check with an appliance parts supplier to determine whether the Ranco unit is a specified replacement for the Beaumark. Also, it is possible that the Ranco thermostat is defective, though new.

P1281 code

n most cases it will be due to a bad thermostat, but yes. A faulty temperature sending unit could possibly fool the computer into thinking that the engine did not warm up properly. They have this one worked out pretty well though. The computer is likely to get suspicious of an engine that has been running 20 minutes and still hasn't reached normal operating temperature.

Won't run when set to auto

This can either be a bad thermostat or faulty control board. If the unit kicks on after jumpimg the wires at thermostat then the thermostat is defective, if it does not turn on the control board is faulty and must be replaced.

I have Model#733308866. The fan runs but the compressor does not. I want to repl the thermostat to see if that fixes the issue. What is the correct part that I need to order

Hi, I wouldn't replace the thermostat if the compressor isn't running. I don't know what kind of system you have, but normally when a compressor does not start and run, it could be a faulty run capacitor, the compressor may be shorted internally, no power to the compressor due to the run capacitor. I wouldn't waste the money on a thermostat until you find out what is causing the compressor not to run. Normally, it would not be the stat. If I knew the name of the unit, and if it were a central heating and cooling system, or a wall or window unit, this would help in trouble shooting it, but when a compressor does not start, its either a bad compressor, run capacitor, or its off on its overload due to loss of freon, drawing to high of amperage, Ect. These are things that need to be checked if you are able to do this kind of work with your hands and have some experience with electrical trouble shooting. So, if you can, look at the run cap to see if it is swollen, leaking oil, or deformed, put your hand on the compressor after the unit has been on for sometime to see if it is hot, be careful not to burn your hand. This will tell you there is a problem internally in the compressor. Please keep me posted.

My fridge is freezing everything. I've had on lowest setting, highest setting, in the middle. I can't work out what I need to do. It's a Samsung model. About 7-8 years old. Don't know the model...

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
I would suggest you to check for the thermostat unit and replace it if faulty. Actually the symptoms you quoted in the query shows that either the thermostat of the unit is faulty or it could also happens due to leak in the sealed (refrigerant ) system, cold air migration (in case of side by side refrigerator) or a defective air damper. But first thing you should check for is the thermostat unit.... A rough technique to check the thermostat is by observing the unit.... If the unit trips periodically then the thermostat looks fine... If the problem still persists, the thermostat needs to be checked electrically, but we'll discuss it if required...First check for the quoted possibilities.

Best of Luck,

Hotpoint FFA70P Bottom freezer not working

HI The thermostat control is usually mounted inside the refrigerator. Its visible control knob is turned to regulate the refrigerator/freezer temperature. The workability of this control can be tested in various ways, depending on the problem. To test the thermostat control:

Step 1:
If the compressor runs all the time, turn the control knob to the OFF position. If the compressor still runs, unplug the unit, then pull off the control knob and remove the screws holding the thermostat in place. Pull out the thermostat and remove either the red or the blue wire from its terminal. Plug in the unit. If the compressor doesn't run, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new thermostat.

Step 2:
If the compressor runs after the wire is removed from its terminal, there is probably a short circuit somewhere in the unit's wiring. In this case, don't try to fix the problem yourself; call a professional service person.

Step 3:
If the refrigerator or freezer runs but the box doesn't cool, unplug the unit and remove the thermostat with a screwdriver. Disconnect both wires from the thermostat. Tape the ends of the wires together with electrical tape, and plug in the appliance. If the refrigerator starts and runs normally, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new thermostat the same way the old one was connected.

Step 4:
If the freezer compartment is normal but the refrigerator box doesn't cool, set the dials that control both compartments to mid-range. Remove these knobs (they're usually friction-fit). Then unscrew the temperature control housing; you'll see an air duct near the control. Replace the knob on the freezer thermostat and turn the control to the OFF position. Open the refrigerator door and look closely at the air duct. If this duct doesn't open wider in about ten minutes, the control is faulty. Replace the control with a new one of the same type. Connect the new control the same way the old one was connected.
